Pirates Bight is back with a bang!
The establishment previously reopened with the Chic Beachside Bar and Restaurant in November 2013, at a temporary location adjacent to the original burnt out site.
The newly expanded elaborate beach front facility reportedly cost in the region of $1.5M and features a bit of the old look while incorporating a number of new designs.
Speaking exclusively with Virgin Islands News Online, Managers Rupert Starkey and Jessica Blackman related that the company was proud and very pleased to reopen at such a pressing time.
“This is the second year we’ve actually done the event for the BVI Spring Regatta and it was a great success last year,” Starkey noted while stating that they tried their best to reopen in time for yesterday’s event.
Ms Blackman commented that the reopening was a huge project and took a lot of work and dedication on the part of the staff to ensure that it was accomplished in time.
“We wanted to keep the same feel as the [previous] restaurant,” she added.
According to Blackman, the new restaurant, while considerably larger, boasts a similar aesthetic to the earlier version. The roof is now higher and the restaurant also sports a larger restructured kitchen area.
Pirates Bight currently employs twenty-four staff members, a little less that before the fire struck but Ms Blackman said the company continues to hire new staff members as restaurant progresses.
The project was completed by Meridian Construction and was handed over just a day before yesterday’s opening.
