Pickering to participate in Middle Player Seminar in St Lucia!

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The BVI Volleyball Association has continued its commitment to Junior player development by sending High School prospect Sharonda Pickering to an International Middle Player Seminar that began on Monday in Castries, St Lucia.

Pickering who plays for the Elmore Stoutt High School and is part of the Matrix Volleyball Organisation led by Jackie Weekes is one of the Territory’s most promising prospects and has already represented the VI in the NORCECA World Qualifying Tournament held earlier this year in the Territory.

The activity opened in the presence of the official authorities of St Lucia which included the representative of the Ministry of Sport, Isabelle Marquis and Brian Louisy and Florian Combie, president and vice-president respectively of the St Lucia Volleyball Association.

The event is coordinated by the Regional Development Centre in the Dominican Republic, which was represented by its Assistant Director, Yoana Mota.

The seminar forms part of the program of the dynamic development centre in Dominican Republic and it is supported by NORCECA Confederation as part of its development plan.

The Seminar runs until September 27, 2012 and the program includes theoretical and practical sessions under the direction of FIVB instructor Dusan Jarotta.

The participants come from both the CAZOVA and ECVA zones of the Caribbean region and the group is formed by people from Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, British Virgin Islands, Dominica, French St Martin, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and Grenadines, Suriname and Trinidad & Tobago.

    I am really proud of you. Remember in first form when I told you that you just needed to try something and you will find your niche and I am glad that you have found it. Imagine you are now in fifth form and I pray that you go off to college and continue to grow personally, athletically and educationally. Love ya

    It is great to see that miss jaquline weekes as again done great things for another young lady of the BVI, in passing down her great talant and love for the sport of volleyball. All the best to you Sharonda,keep up the good work.
