VICTORIA, Hong Kong: While at home he remains unpopular with residents in the British Overseas Territory of the Virgin Islands (VI), including among his National Democratic Party (NDP) faithful—some now impatient to replace him on June 23, 2018 at the NDP convention—Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr the Honourable D. Orlando Smith (AL), is on another of his globe-trotting trips.

He was photographed today, Tuesday, June 5, 2018, in Hong Kong meeting with practitioners of the financial services industry, and with VI Ambassador to Asia, Elise Donovan.

Asia House Director

Ms Donovan, the Director at ‘BVI House Asia,’ was announced since July 2017 as the new Executive Director of BVI Finance—the marketing arm of the local financial services sector—to replace retired civil servant, Lorna G. Smith OBE.

A year later, Mrs. Smith—the Premier’s wife—is still in the post with no signs of giving it up. She was first appointed as 'Interim' Director in May of 2016, two years ago.

Skelton gets trip

Also joining Premier Smith, on the trip is Health and Social Development Minister, Hon Ronnie W. Skelton (AL), the man who party supporters—including spokeswomen and former Legislator Eileene L Parsons OBE, Hon Melvin M. Turnbull (R2) and Hon Delores Christopher (R5)—said publicly, should be the Minister of Finance.

Premier Smith however, has made clear he is not giving up the post to Hon Skelton, who served as Minister of Finance between 2003 and 2007. The public will be happy at least to see Hon Skelton is part of the delegation!

Everyone now sees who is the premier. Not the man. We will always be in trouble. Money talks. Only BVIslanders can have this country at heart. We are being catered for by others who might have more interest in their homeland. Hold the premier accountable.

By taking RS is this an indication that OS has endorsed him over his medical & legal colleagues (Cubano/Baldy)? It is an interesting snap-shot and inferences will be made considering g the party has internal elections drawing near soon. Let the internal party power eat play out for all to see.

Why can't you people leave Lorna alone. At least, she have her husband's back and he have here's. You all can clap back with the madness but I like Lorna.

Speak for yourself about the Premire unpopularity. If it was not for MyCon, I would have have given the NDP my vote. All politicians are crooks. They never say what they mean or mean what they say. There will be no difference with any other party elected, including the VIP.
Our nation had better repent quickly before worse judgment befalls us.
