BEEF ISLAND, VI - It was around 5:10 PM on June 15, 2018, that our roving camera observed a dog along the Beef Island public road, with a young ‘yard chicken’ that she had captured.

The female dog—with a collar around her neck—seems to have been on a mission to have a good chicken dinner.

It appears the dog, a black mutt, may have also recently given birth but was focused on getting to her destination with her catch.

A new way

‘Yard chickens’ have become a nuisance to most residents, restaurant owners and even the Terrence B. Lettsome International Airport, itself.

The owner of the dog is unknown, but Government could consider using pooches in the fight, as another way to help reduce the domestic stray yard chickens/fowls population in the Territory.
