ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – A packed weekend of action in the Volleyball Power league saw wins for Phoenix Blue, Phoenix Red, but two defeats for Phoenix Black in the Women’s division.

Each and every game in the Women’s match-ups over the weekend was over in straight sets with Danielle Selkridge leading the “Blues” with 17 kills on their way to a 25-17, 25-14, 25-20 victory over Phoenix Black on Friday February 15, 2013.

She added 2 blocks, 2 digs and 1 ace, whilst Sherryann Varlack recorded 8 kills, 2 blocks, 2 digs and 3 aces. For Phoenix Black Jamayce Mason had 3 kills and 2 blocks.

On Saturday February 16, 2013, Raw Power bounced back from defeat last time out with a 25-19, 25-19, 25-21 win over Phoenix Black mainly thanks to a strong defensive performance. H. Telemaque had 14 digs, A. Peters 11 and V. Brathwaite 9 to set up the win.

The trio also combined for 10 kills and 4 aces.

For Phoenix Black, Jamacye Mason notched 6 kills and 7 digs; K. Penn had 4 kills, 1 block, 7 digs, 3 aces; M. Stoutt added 2 kills, 9 digs, 4 aces; A Scatliffe recorded 2 digs, 1 block and 16 digs whilst Victoria Washa finished with 2 kills, 14 digs and 1 ace.

On Sunday February 17, 2013 Phoenix Red defeated Achievers also in straight sets 25-16, 25-17, 25-10. Sabinah Clement was in dominant form at the net with 10 Kills, also adding 1 block, 2 digs and 4 ace’s to her night's work. Valissa Brathwaite added 8 kills, 2 blocks, 7 digs and 3 aces’s whilst Karen finished with 4 kills, 2 blocks, 3 digs and a pair of aces.

For the Achievers, Lauren Welch picked up 4 kills and 5 digs with Simone contributing 3 kills and 4 digs.

In the Men’s Division, Gunz defeated Raw Power in 4 sets, the only match across the board that saw the eventual winners drop a set, 18-25, 25-19, 25-18 & 25-17.

Clyde Potter Jr. led the Gunz with 6 kills, 3 blocks, 4 digs and 1ace. Neville Brathwaite added 9 kills, 5 blocks and 2 aces whilst Akeem Robinson finished with 7 kills, 8 blocks and 4 digs.

For Raw Power, Leon Smith had 11 kills, 3 blocks, 6 digs and 4 aces.

On Saturday, Just Dream defeated Fire Power in straight sets, 25-13, 28-26 & 25-16. Canice Marquis had 8 kills, 1 block, Drexel Glasgow, 4 kills, 1 block, 5 digs and 3 aces.

Fire Power were led by Curtis Davis with 3 kills, 4 blocks, 1 ace.

On Sunday, Just Dream made it two wins on the trot defeating Gunz in straight sets: 25-15, 25-22, 25-22.

Just Dream were led home by Canice Marquis’ 9 kills, 1 block, 6 digs and 1 ace. Rhenne Phipps added 5 Kills, 6 Blocks and 1 Kill.

For the Gunz Potter Jr. had 10 Kills, 1 Block, 6 digs and an ace, Nevine Brathwaite 4 kills, 2 blocks, 5 digs and 1 ace and Robinson 4 kills, 2 blocks and 5 digs.
