EAST END, Tortola, VI – The East End/Long Look Festival and Fairs Committee’s failure to pull off at least two ticketed events last year now has ticket holders feeling scammed since they have not been hearing anything official from the committee about a refund or new dates for the events to be held.

The two events are a raffle that had a motor scooter as its main prize and which should have been drawn in July 2016 and a boat ride dubbed 'White and Bright Boat Ride' that was scheduled for November 2016.

"I was so shocked when the conversation came up recently about this committee. I remembered buying tickets for the raffle but after not hearing anything I disposed of the tickets thinking I missed the drawing. It was until my brother was talking about the boat ride that I got to know that raffle never was never drawn, nobody never got a bike, this is extremely bad," said a concerned East End resident who asked not to be named.

"When I asked a committee member if the raffle played, the member laughed and said hmmmm no comment," the source claimed.

The issue has also been raised on social media, especially Facebook, where ticket holders have been expressing their disappointment with the committee.

‘I feel scammed’

Another ticket holder told this news site that he, along with many others who bought tickets for the boat ride, feels "scammed."

Our sources confirmed that the East End/Long Look Festival Committee had received sponsors for the boat ride and has been selling tickets since around October 2016. It is alleged that the boat, which was identified to do the boat ride, was “not registered” and had some issues to fix before doing so.

A check on the committee’s Facebook page had a notice posted on November 11, 2016 alerting persons of the boat ride’s postponement.

“The East End Long Look Festival Committee regrets to inform the general public that the White and Bright Boat ride scheduled to take place tomorrow Saturday 12 November 2016 has been postponed due to circumstances beyond our control. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and look forward to bringing you White and Bright in the next few weeks. All tickets bought will still be valid,” the Facebook post read.

No other details on that event were posted since.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the East End/Long Look Festival and Fairs Committee, Sandra Potter-Warrican, told this news site that both events will come off once they are able to finalise some arrangements.

“I need to finalise details with the captain of the vessel. That’s where we are at, as soon as that is finalised then we will publish a new date," Potter-Warrican said of the boat ride.

Regarding the motor scooter raffle, she said: “All of those things are being worked on. As soon as I have them finalised then we will go and let the public know what’s going on.”

You have a problem go and buy yourself a boat your damn self he don't owe them anything... you dont know the man situation and the whole situation. It's the people's boat and if he want to postpone because of certain situations then he can. Stop moving !$%^& horny for events if you can't wait then go to another boat simple as that. He isn't the only one with a damn boat.

I was one of the businesses selling tickets for the ELFC and it was no fault of theirs that the event got proponed, more so the young lady that brought the tickets to me to sell has been updating me with progress of trying to hold the event with a new date ... getting the bands , boat has been hard planning around other events and such . I even offered up ideas I am Very CONFEDENT that the event WILL be held as soon as all the ducks are lined up...

So don't just tell you, let the public know, it's their money. Anywhere else these excuses you listed would not justify the length of time waiting for an update. Anywhere else litigation proceedings against the committee would have started. Simply put. COMMUNICATE to the people.

If the Minister truly allows the sub committees to do their job and not meddle, I will not only be surprised but equally impressed.

How could you be robbed didn’t you hear what the chair person said? Can you read to understand? I am not a committee member but I understand what the chairperson said the boat is not hers or the committee own.

Dr. Good day. If you are reading I'm asking you to please give Alvera a shot at minister of Culture. This is been her life work. She knows this subject well.. Too much issues in this ministry.. Maybe that should have been a junior minister post created for her. Instead of Marlon . Call it " Junior minister of trade and culture" .The other option then would be to have Marlon as junior minister of trade and culture. Myron obvious needs help. He is not getting it handle..

2.They went to many other barge owners to try to pull it off
    3. The bands are not just sitting waiting so they have to set a date when all the bands are open
4.I know one member that has been asking for ideas ,venues dates
