‘People regret voting the NDP back in’ – Donald E. de Castro
He made the statement during his Straight Talk radio show heard on Wednesday August 12, 2015 on ZBVI 780 AM.
The NDP won in what could be described as a landslide election on June 8, 2015, with an 11 to 2 victory reducing the Opposition from four seats and decimating all of the Virgin Islands Party ( VIP ) candidates except Honourable Julian Fraser RA (R3) and Honourable Andrew A. Fahie (R1).
Following the result, there have been calls for the restructuring of the leadership of the VIP and it is expected that there is some measure of fireworks at the party’s elections on September 2, 2015.
"Several people have finally admitted to me that they are sorry that they voted this Government back into power...they said all of the work that had been going on before elections, everything has stopped," de Castro said.
"I know. But nobody cared...nobody listened," he lamented.
It has been observed that there had indeed been a flurry of activity prior to elections and many had termed these elections gimmicks aimed at creating the illusion that things were being done and that they were more or less strategically timed to get people's attention.

Why does the press record their ill thought out self publisising views.
What choice did the people of the BVI have, vote in the slate that the VIP offered ?
We must also stop naturalizing the foreign influx. All we are going to succeed in doing is losing our country.
This wasn't one of the f.ols who was saying don't go to the polls?
I see why people don't listen to this a.s and a few others. Some
people just don't know how or when to quit.
poppy show r u or fools galore?
Honestly, I think it serves everybody right. This deceitful system of nepotism, welfare state, backhanded concerns and underhanded promises needs to stop. We the people of the Virgin Islands deserve transparency and the right to be involved in the decisions on our behalf. This government keeps making decisions without even letting us know that there was a decision to be made in the first place and then they tell us it's for our own good. We need to be active. This is our country, our home and until we can stand for ourselves and demand a standard for our politicians to follow, we deserve every kick and slap that comes our way.
Also, we need to stop voting selfishly and accepting petty bribes. What is $2000 when millions of dollars are being looted from the people? What is a house if you have no roads to access it or, water or electricity in it? What's the point of land if you have no deed? People need to start thinking about the bigger picture. Where are our selfish wants leading us too and how much does our integrity cost? What is the price of our freedom, happiness and future?
I know that people don't like hearing the opinions of people like Mr. de Castro and Edmund Maduro and you're entitled to disagree with them but I honestly feel that when people like them are gone, there will be no honesty. Because of people like them, who speak their minds regardless of how people might feel like them, the people of the BVI have been able to hear an alternative opinion and despite how I might feel about their opinion, I respect them for that.
Ignorance so pallpable,it is frightening!
NDP will be voted in again after their current term!!!
