When there is a cross walk YOU MUST SLOW DOWN WHETHER THERE IS SOMEONE IN YOUR PERIPHERAL OR NOT! You know how much times I stand by a cross walk in hopes to actually get to the other side but drivers speeding pass me making the wind blow me over! Come on stop blaming and take actions!

@wise up. Here in BVI the tourist rule. Sad story but truth be told. Tourist or not we all need to be vigilant. Some people just walk across the street and don't look left or right. Ear phones in both ears and on cellular phones. They Cross with out due care but there are no laws for them so please let us all try to use caution. Hope the gentleman is ok.

That should be a slow zone

@ serious. Common sense will tell a driver that it's a slow zone. The pedestrian activity should dictate that.

@ Jack B Nimble ....I've witness those huge trucks and other vehicles speeding across there like it's a highway. Super cop would have a field day around there if we worked that area trust me

Mark spent well over a hundred thousand dollars for a traffic calmer that doesn't work

You're right, the traffic calmer was a complete waste of money. What should have been done there (and in at least 3 or 4 other places in town, is a lighted crosswalk with an overhead crosswalk sign.

Whilst you may have a point with the tourists not looking where they are going, nobody is worse than the school children who just walk out into traffic, not looking, wearing headphones so they can't even hear the traffic!

Glad it wasn't worst! This area needs more lighting and both drivers and pedestrians need to pay more attention. I always slow down in that area no matter what time of day it is because there are some people that come from between the cars on either side and just step onto the crosswalk and you don't even see them until the last minute. At the end of the day, you will hardly hear a pedestrian being wrong and nobody wants to hit someone with their vehicle whether right or wrong, so I slow the hell down.

Thanks "wow"! Road Town streets are too dark! We need to install proper lighting on these cross walks and throughout Road Town.

Person coming from Dareos/FedEx area by the High School especially in the morning, when you see a line of cars in front of you STOP passing them to take a right to go up Joe's Hill. Who performed bionic vision on your eyes 'cause I sure would like to see that specialist.

There are cars coming on the lane you are passing on and you almost ALWAYS to stop to go right back in the lane you came out of (just 1 car up). To add, you impeded the floor of traffic since others in front of you are about to take a right turn.

    CUT THE CRAP!!

If the tourist was drunk and impaired while he hobbled across the street y'all would never know. However I know how things are when tourist are involved, when they fall and buss a knee on government faulty roads they can sue our government. Let one of us buss we head while trippin over a raised brick, you think we can do the same???

Its unfortunate for this to have happened, but there are times that pedestrian walk across the roads without any respect for the coming vehicle. You would thought that when crossing the roads, you get across as quickly as you can, because the unfortunate ting is for the brakes to malfunction and thereby hit that person (s). At the same token, some of the drivers do drive without due care and attention to the users of the roads too. So it can go both ways, however, hope that the individual is not that badly hurt and a speedy recovery.

I would recommend that the BVI Government install a speed hump right at the cross walk, which will force drivers to slow down.... persons cross on the hump which is clearly marked as a pedestrian crossing. I have seen this in other countries and it works really well.
