Parsons crush Albion in Village Softball

SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI – While the BVI Softball Federation appears to be at a standstill, the Sea Cows Bay Village Softball Championship is in full swing with Parsons looking a serious threat to defending champions Pleasant Valley.

In Game 1 on Sunday April 21, 2013 at the Roger Allen Hodge Park, Parsons doubled up on Albion by amassing a massive 14-7 margin. Parsons had 9 hits and 3 walks, made 2 errors and left 3 on base. The winning pitcher was Eli 'Yampie' Nibbs who was relieved by Roy ' Panhandle" Hill in the 3rd inning. Collectively they struck out 4. 

For Parsons Akeem ' Chunky' Titley went 2 for 3, walked and reached on an error, crossed home plate 4 times and drove in a run. George ' Shawala ' Borrows was 2 for 3 with a double and a homerun, scoring twice and driving in 2. Devon Bedford was 2 for 3 with a double and a triple, scored twice and drove in 2. Dwight Brooks had a single and double, scored 1 and drove in 1.  Kye Rhymer had a double, Ian Hodge a single and Aaron Parillon a single to top off the hitting.

Albion's 7 runs came on 4 hits and 3 free passes. Clifton 'Tito' Forbes went 1 for 3; Natheson Thomas was 1 for 3 with a towering home run over the second wall. Lionel Hodge was 1 for 3 and Aubrey Frett went 1 for 2. Albion left 4 runners on base and committed 2 errors. Aubrey ' Kong ' Frett who received the brunt of Parsons punishment before being assisted by Denzil ' Blair ' Daniel in the 4th, took the loss.

In Game 2, two time defending champions Pleasant Valley put the sleeper on Cherry Ghut and held them to just 1 run on a fielder's choice while muscling 7. Pleasant Valley's 7 runs came on 8 hits. They committed 2 errors and left 2 on base. Clarence ' Washibo ' Fahie did all the pitching damage en route to fanning 4, popping up 5 and grounding out 2. 

Hitters on record for Pleasant Valley were, Allen ' Woodrow ' Smith who went 2 for 2 with a walk, scored twice and drove in a run. Cecil ' Habbuk ' Fraser also went 2 for 2, with a single, double and drew a free pass. He scored 1 and drove in 1. Gervin Stoutt was 1 for 1 with 2 walks. Kyle Callwood went 1 for 3 with a double, stole a base and scored once. Javon Fahie was 1 for 2 with a double, and Curtis Freeman who started Pleasant Valley's hitting in the 2nd inning was 1 for 3. He also reached base on 2 errors and scored once.

Cherry Ghut's only hit was a triple by Carlos Maynard. Cherry Ghut had 2 errors and left 2 on base. Daryl Robinson who yielded to Sirron Scatliffe in the 3rd was charged with the loss.

In the previous weekend games, Pleasant Valley doused the flames of Albion by a score of 9 to 1. The 2 time defending champions had 7 hits and committed 4 errors while leaving 5 on base.  The winning hurler was Clarence 'Washibo' Fahie who walked 1 and struck out 9 in going all the way for Pleasant Valley.

Hitters of note for the Valley were: Kyle Callwood who went 2 for 4 with a homerun, scored twice and drove in a run. Raymore Mercer went 2 for 3 with a single and double while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Roy Barry, Clarence Fahie and Gervin Stoutt each slapped 1 for 2.

Albion's lone run came on 2 hits. Elvin ' Flower' Forbes drove in the run on his double off Fahie.  Lionel Hodge had the other hit. Albion committed 7 errors and left 3 on base. Denzil ' Blair ' Daniel was saddled with the loss though he was relieved by Aubrey ' Kong ' Frett in the 4th. 

In Game 2, despite sending 3 pitchers to the mound, namely, Daryl Robinson, Alvin Bolton and Sirron Scatliffe, Cherry Ghut who led 2 to nothing until the top of the 4th Inning were shelled by Parsons who batted around in the fourth to amass 11 runs. Cherry Ghut managed just 1 run in the 5th. Parsons crushed them 11-3.

The winning pitcher was Roy ' Panhandle ' Hill who went the distance striking out 7 and walking none. Parsons had 6 hits committed 3 errors and left 5 on base. Notable hitters for Parsons were: Dwight Brooks who went 2 for 2 drew a walk had a single and home run while scoring twice and driving in a run. George ' Shawala ' Borrows was 2 for 3 with 2 singles scored twice and drove in a run. Devon Bedford was 1 for 3 with a triple and Aaron ' The Jedi ' Parillon had a single.

Cherry Ghut had 6 hits committed 6 miscues and left 5 on base. Robinson was charged with the loss.  Top Hitter were Angel Bijas who went 3 for 3 with a home run. Carlos Maynard was 1 for 2 with a double and Sylvester ' Bucker ' Johnson went 1 for 2.

          It's not Bucker. He helped out with the cleaning and cutting of the field but it's Milton McLean who organized the entire thing.
