ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Hundreds of persons turned out in Road Town last evening, December 14, 2012 to witness and participate in an exciting display dubbed the Parade of Lights and Christmas Extravaganza.

The parade route started off in the vicinity of the Governor’s residence on Waterfront Drive and wound its way through the streets of Road Town leading to the Central Administration Complex where participants eventually stopped before putting on a Christmas Extravaganza which began sometime around 8PM.

The programme showcased a host of acts which included performances by the Ogier group of singers, the BVI Dance School, Deanna Wheatley, the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports After School Music Programme, Public Service Choir and Kamyce Penn among others.

Many families came out to witness the event which featured Christmas carols by a number of singers, violin renditions and dancers who grooved to the melodies of popular Christmas songs. Persons who were not fortunate enough to find seating provided for the event, either stood around or made themselves comfortable while seated on the lawns or stairs of the complex.

The Department of Youth Affairs and Sports After School Music Programme featured a young group of violinists who gave a number of especially rousing renditions and had the crowd cheering quite loudly at the end of each song.

Some of the notable attendees at the event included Premier Dr the Hon. D. Orlando Smith, Minister for Natural Resources and Labour Hon. Kedrick Pickering, Deputy Governor Inez Archibald and Director of Public Prosecutions Wayne Rajbansie.

The event was presented by the Office of the Deputy Governor in collaboration with the Department of Information and Public Relations. This year's event was observed under the theme, 'Share, Give, and Care for the Christmas and the New Year'.

mary j ...... Please note: In the future if you want to call down any department, instead of saying "deeds", the correct word is "these". A deed is a Will. I don't know where you and other people picked up this bad habit from of referring to 'these' as 'deeds. SMH

@ zzzzzzzzzzz it probably don't matter one way or another with you, because whether it got multiple things going on or not, you probably don't support none.
