@ woww.. why do some of you all like to refer to them as “island people”. Don’t you know this is a racist term like when white call us the “N” word?... they make up majority of our Health Care system - our nurses, our doctors, our PCAs, and orderlies etc.. and by the way Tortola is an island do that makes us island people as well.. it’s not a continent.. I know perhaps you meant no harm by calling them that but just saying to stop.. we are one race/Caribbean people .. let us All stop dumping on each other /using derogatory terms to refer them and then Us... moreso God made us all and we are to show love one to another ..

When did "Island People" become a racist term?
Was it when you looked inward and accepted that you are the lowest .Please try to find some decency and not equate the "n" word with a person identified as being from a Caribbean Island.

The real question is why they are offended by being called an island person. Truth is that they are offended by being who they are. If they cannot be a makebelieve Tolian and be called aTolian, they suffer distress ,humiliation and embarassing anger. Who they are they have made into nothing. Self hatred is real. ATolian could not give a hoot what they are called. Who they are is solid .They lice proudly who they are. Even being called by their Country,s name ,they are offended.Numerous Jamaicans and other up deislun folks in NY are calling themselves from Virgin Islands. They degrade their country and themselves and now shame to be identified as such. Pitiful set of lost no identity envious ungrateful stragglers.
