ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – “Let us have some sort of closure please, tell us something. Let his grieving mother at least get a chance to see her son, some sort of closure is what we need. Let us bury him while you continue investigations. One week gone and you telling us you not sure when the postmortem will be, no no, no. We need closure,” said an immediate family member of murdered Trinidadian Nyron F. Ollivierre also known as 'Tin Tin'.

The family said their main concern at the moment is having the pathologist brought in then releasing the body so they can have it taken to Trinidad for burial. “That’s our main issue right now,” said the family member.

Ollivierre’s lifeless body was discovered on September 12, 2014 following reports of gun shots in the Horsepath community. One of the immediate family members who has connections with this news site did confirm his identity with us allowing this news site to share his name and other details ahead of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) Public Relations Press Release.

Word had gotten around to the family by calls from others. A family member said that after receiving word she went to the RVIPF and identified herself and was only told that they were sure it was Ollivierre who was killed.

“They said right now they can’t give me any information, as far they know the individual is dead and they take my name my number, my sister was there, they took her name and number and that was that. Up to this day the only time they called my phone was to arrange to meet the family and that was it… no other information,” she said.

“Nobody has identified the body, nobody has given us any information more than from what it is the girlfriend is saying,” she added.

Two other immediate family members flew to the Territory two days following, his mother and a sister. Today nine days after their tears are on the RVIPF seeking some level of closure as they feel that they are not being afforded their legal right to see the body.

“It’s his mother, his sister, not a cousin, not a girlfriend; his mother… all she needs is closure to some level while justice is pursued to find out who did this to her child. Let us see him, do what you have to do with consideration for his loved ones with more haste, they travel all the way, it’s costly, what if they were to be staying in a hotel?” said one of the immediate family.

“The officer said, I guess he is the officer leading in the investigations, said that due to the forensic and evidence and different things in reference to the body they cannot open it, that’s what they told us. They told it can take as long as up until October for the pathologist to get here. Now tell me, these things do really happen!” lamented the family.

As the days roll by Ollivierre’s mother especially is growing worse health wise as her level of grief is being extended. Her condition up to last evening was one of extreme sorrow as she could not even speak. “They telling us that they have to get court order and other things first before they could even send for the pathologist, this is the BVI; they boasting all the time that they have money, Financial Services this and Financial Services that, why we should wait weeks unending just to get a postmortem done through the government system? This is not right,” said the woman in a very emotional state.

“This is the kind of thing I want the outside world to know about because it’s so wrong to know that as they would say here is so full of money and we can’t get things done on a day-to-day basis and prompt, not even to identify the body,” she stressed.

They said that the deceased came to the Territory on a work permit less than a year now and the only information they able to get to some extent came from his girlfriend. “We just sitting here now waiting, we don’t know anything, we not hearing anything, we can’t see anything we just sitting her waiting, it’s frustrating, its costly and most of all its painful,” said the family.

I feel so badly for these poor people. It really is inhuman to be kept in the dark like this and unable to see her son.

My sincere condolences to both of these ladies. What a horrible situation. Surely somebody in the police department or in government or at the Governor's office has a heart and can help them?

Why on Earth is it taking so long? It's not right.

SHAME SHAME SHAME ON BVI AUTHORITIES!!! Condolences to the family... Is this Tortola the land of Turtle Doves or the land of TURTLES. Slow for justice and to even hand over this young man's body for burial rights. What is really going on here? Is the government going to pay the bills for the Ollivierre family. They have travelled overseas to do the only thing they can possibly do for this young man at this time- bury him.

Come on BVI have a conscience people are grieving... To the relevant authorities - time to come out of your shells Turtles &do something... Wake up &smell the sh**

Please alert your friend and families in Trinidad that they would be wise to not come to the BVI in an attempt to build up the country. They would be wise to stay away from here and look for other countries to build up. The BVI is the worse. Now their crime rate as a result has gone up so please pass on the advice. Stay away from the BVI.

No matter the comparison, The BVI crime rate has gone up as a result of some claiming they are here to build up. We do not have the forensics readily available for homicides. Trinidad with their once every
minute homicide should send one of their many pathologist to do what is necessary for their Trini victim. Give a lil help to Tola. We help them plenty but to lend a hand in return they never do. Karma is what is wrong with places like Trinidad.,,,dem a tek tek tek an kil kill is all dem know.

No pathologists in the BVI, in these times. Very dis-heartening. Sorry to the family of this guy. No closure whatsoever. It is very impolite &the Tortola authorities obviously have no courtesy. These people are in a foreign country, a place that is strange to them and they should be kept up-to-date being on whats going on. I'm sure they did not cater for this long visit. Very sad situation. Condolences to the family.

Lame excuses, just dawn lame. Why can't this lady see the body of her son? My guess is that the smooth talkers in the top circle must make a trip off of the purse or get some chips from the pathologist purse. All up and down these chains of islands there are qualified pathologist but to this elite crew they must get one of their own. Our neighbors been busy with these happenings so can't they source one from there. By the way school children say the man made a report days before he was shot. What did if anything was done? That to should be something to look into.

Now people let's be for real, this is a homicide and as a matter of law an autopsy must be done on the body to establish a cause of death yes we know he got shot but that is not the cause of death the cause of death is .......... Due to gunshot wound. Now from the Time that body is picked up it becomes the property of the government, no family have control over it so when they come chatting crap about they want to see the body they fully well know it does not work like that not even in Trinidad. We have a pathologist here but in cases of homicide we bring in one with more expertise to do the autopsy, this person is not one we can call upon at once and he comes we have to wait until he can make the time to come. Until such time the body is a scene/exhibit and cannot be tampered with. When the pathologist arrive for the autopsy then a family member will be ask to be present to identify the body to him and them afterward the body can be released to the family but until such time it's the property of the government. So people stop being naive and chat all kind of nonsense on here.

Pathologists ought to be able their work and make some progress with this case. There are instances where pieces of evidence are sent for foreign pathologists to investigate. Its been 9 days now and what has been done. Common sense would tell you that it does NOT take that long to give a family some kind of closure and inform them about the necessary protocol in BVI and/or what is being done at present. They are obviously clueless. The family of the deceased didn't come to Tortola for a vacation so their expenses are increasing. Please have a heart BVI and give the family some information or assistance.
And Jaigan stop being a bhaigan!!! If it were your family you would be singing a different tune.

If the family making noise and prancing about then let them see the body take it back to Trinidad and case close. Think about the money we would save so make them happy.
Why doesn't Trinidad whose murder rate ranks as the world.s highest step in and assist with a pathologist or whatever. The BVI is not readily equipped for homicides and the forensics. We get that from elsewhere when necessary and when they could schedule us. Homicide is not one of our cultural practices so either be patient or give us permission to release the body end the follow ups such as forensics and investigation or wait until it is our turn for a pathologist or appeal to your well practiced and equipped homicidal country for assistance.

There are other islands closer to BVI where a pathologist can be sourced from. The way you blogging its as if BVI bringing down a CSI team. Its been 10 days now in case you missed it.
That is probably why BVI is so backward and lacking basic amenities. People in BVI if you do NOT stand for something you will fall for anything just like Dulcina here.
What Tortola really equipped for Dulcina?
So far its only the police and Dulcina making noise and prancing around with a set of lame excuses.

The deceased and his family are fortunate to be from a country where homicides are daily occurences and pathologists and forensic scientist s are on call when necessary. Pathologists there ,I would think, are as common as roti. The tragedy as I see it is that this family has chosen not to hire a pathologist and Trinidad has chosen not to assist one of their countrymen who has found tragedy in a foreign land. Assisting this territory in this situation would also be an option, considering the amount of moneys we pour into their economy.
        • ST.Kitts (21/09/2014, 16:50) Like (10) Dislike (0) Reply
Mr comment, people in Trinidad don't hire pathologists. It is a service rendered by the government of Trinidad and Tobago free of charge and in a speedily manner. Hiring a pathologist costs money, funeral arrangements cost money, accommodation in BVI is costing these people money. Are you giving them any of your money to help with their expenses--- NO!
U are talking a senseless bag of mess.
The real tragedy here is you opening your mouth without even finding out about the financial situation of these people... or is it that in Tortola money grows on trees?
Mr Comment you sound like the mascot for the BVI government full of crap... Try and blog for better services nuh, instead of supporting these archaic practices maintained by the BVI...

Well why isnt trinidad speedily sending a pathologist free of charge to work with the long overdue process of a post mortem etc. for their citizen in a foreign and ill equipped country? Suppose it and Mr O is not important to them. Seriously,, demand the release of the body and sign a waiver regarding any further investigation. To the BVI the deceased is a negative statistic and even less than that to his country, obviously.
And by the way any one ,any where is free to hire a pathologist even in conjunction with the Gov pathologist. They are not compelled to wait on "for free". "For free is a habit to some of us and we assume a God given right but paying your way gives u rights to make demands. Trinidad could give financial support or one ofthe Trini Organization here in the BVI, unless they too are simply a waste.

Are you footing the bill for the Ollivierre family? I think NOT... So stop talking tata and cease from continuing your verbal diarrhea.
Dulcina, maybe it is your custom to prance around and make noise when there is a death in your family but this is NOT the case with the relatives of the deceased, Mr Nyron Ollivierre.
That family is not there on vacation so they have no time to be prancing around- a loved one is dead. People who have feelings mourn at these times. You seem to be missing the whole point which is the slow way that things are being done in BVI. Injustice has been done to that family. Would you like to be in their position Dulcina?
THE WAY THINGS ARE IN BVI DOES NOT MEAN IT IS RIGHT!!!--- The process is daunting for anyone in that situation.
And since you seem to have a plaster for every sore (excuses) please do let the whole world know what is BVI equipped to handle in these instances?

That is all yo biggest problem.Paying for services is foreign. If u are not satisfied with waiting until a free pathologist is available, then hire one.
One of those free pathologist to which u refer could be placed on a Gov sponsored airline and be in the morgue in the Vi attending to their fellow Trinidadian, if not for the sake of Mr O,, then as a courtesy to the VI from whom they enjoy a boost to their economy.
It is amazing how these inconsequential citizens of other lame duck countries arrive here and become all demanding of the impossible...You cannot accomplish much with that kind off misdirected and misused negative energy.

so what are you trying to say, these people should come in all happy and jolly knowing there loved one was murdered???? hiring one is not the problem clown!!!! its your government duty to have these people in place.. what your country only caters for pathologist for the elderly who dies from old age.. and if you read properly i said the government pathologist is free because they are hired by the government to perform their jobs.. they carter for poor people...they treat people with equality not race or colour. you stated clearly that they demand the impossible...well that tells me how your country need to grow and be on an international level...and if you have that lay back attitude and dont demand betterment for your country and their citizens, then you would never no what growth of a country means...so you mr clown continue being happy with the poor services of your country....and that wouldn't change because of people like you...grow and and smell the s##t>>>

With all the free pathologists and equality and growth and betterment, half of Trinidad is here begging breadand the other half is hoping while struggling. So whats your point?
If the BVI was a place needing and stocking pathologist it would be cursed and avoided just like Trinidad.
The O family will also be depending on this country that you have castigated, for justice. How nearsighted to be so forward with the mudslinging. It will have the last say so keep that in mind and I wish them luck.

Are u talking about Trinidad, the land of the hummingbird and homicides?
Racism in Trinidad is no make believe nor it is a secret You trying to be something you are not sweetie. Betterment is the last thing you should be dictating to the VI. You have to not be talking about Trinidad.

The negative comments about Trinidad are uncalled for, you cannot compare T&T with B.V.I on any scale. Let our human dignity propelled us through those difficult times we face and stop the "Us and Them mentality. We are one Caribbean people ,it's high time we recognize that fact.
For the wrongly informed the government of T&T was never asked assistant and they just won't land a forensic pathologist on your soil, there is something called protocol and sovereign state .The Government of the B.V.I has outsourced it's own Pathologist so stop the pettiness.
Finally T&T has a population of 1,223,916 persons as in any developed or developing country crime is prevalent it's unfortunate but true and no island is immune.

hen a citizen of your country meets a tragedy such as this one that is being discussed, you do not have to be asked for assistance. HumShichimi'sanity, morals and common decency dictates that Trinidad initiate contact with the BVI and let them know that they are aware of the situation, and if need be that Trinidad would be more than willing to assist.
Did T/T lose its humanity because of poverty and social break down or is the callous behaviour a result of the lack of humanity?
      Which came first?

I am becoming more and more convinced that in the human chain there are those whose level of humanity has not yet evolved to a level that is beyond the infantile. They have not yet learned to give, to offer, to repay kindnesses etc. Their humanity is more on the level of an insect, taking your lifeblood and giving nothing in return but attempts at destruction of the host.
It is just the way it is. Frustrating and mindboggling but be at peace because the giver
will always have and will continue to be blessed. Parasites have a short life span and is cursed.
May God continue to bless these Islands.

Oh boy you have said it and could not have put it any better. I love your post. It is so amazing how some people who gain everything from been and working in the BVI can call down the BVI in the worst of ways

I can assure you if they bring a pathologist from trindad to do the autopsy. And if they do find the murderer. The lawyer will say it is a conflict of interest. Let's remember lawyer or paid to do anything to get their clients off. Just saying

But common decency would have Trinidad make an offer of assistance that would help its citizen in a foreign country.
The BVI has the option of accepting and Mr O,s family would feel validated as human beings of some value.
