Novelty Christmas tree brightens SCB
A Christmas tree, made largely of recycled plastic bottles and a wooden trunk has been proudly displayed since Christmas night to the delight of many, offering several an opportunity to stop and take pictures as they passed by.
Sea Cows Bay residents, Everyl Hinds and her daughter Neola Hinds, are the creators behind the novel concept and disclosed to Virgin Islands News Online that the labour of love took the duo nearly two weeks to complete.
When asked about the inspiration behind the idea, Everyl revealed that it was simply a thought that had struck her daughter out of thin air.
“We bought about five cases of water,” Mrs Hinds disclosed. But instead of throwing the plastic bottles away as is often done, her daughter Neola suggested that something creative be done this time around.
“We could make a Christmas tree you know,” Neola suggested to her mom who readily warmed to the idea.
The two have been putting their hands to creative enterprise for a number of years and have worked on several other simple novelty projects in the past for their home.
Even though Mrs Hinds, a Caretaker, revealed that she grew tired along the way and almost gave up during the project, she appeared very proud at the brightly lit result.

I think it is very clever and a great use of recycled plastic bottles. what else can we do with plastic bottles, especially big gallons that get thrown away all the time?
