- Promises to be vibrant & bring a youthful hype in campaigning for 13 VIP candidates
The youth group, Ready Committee, confirmed that over the past months it had the opportunity to observe and evaluate the perspectives and agendas of the various candidates who had expressed an interest in running and have been confirmed and ratified by the VIP Governing Body, its Congress. 'We call on all youth who are registered to vote, to vote for change, vote for the dynamic, talented leadership and vote for the future of the Virgin Islands, vote for VIP All the Way,' the committee stated in pledging its full support for the VIP’s 13 candidates for the June 8, 2015 general elections. ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- “The youths of this group pledge our full support to ensure that all 13 VIP candidates are elected to office as the young people cannot suffer through another four years of a National Democratic Party Administration.” This was part of a statement issued today May 10, 2015 by the Ready Committee, a youth group in strong support of the main Opposition Virgin Islands Party (VIP).

According to the 35-member plus Ready Committee, another term of the National Democratic Party (NDP) will mean lack of meaningful employment opportunities, “cut back in scholarships, red tape in obtaining trade license- resulting in young people being kept back from becoming entrepreneurs- victimisation and only knowing the youth three months before elections.

“We call on all youth who are registered to vote, to vote for change, vote for the dynamic, talented leadership and vote for the future of the Virgin Islands, vote for VIP All the Way,” the committee stated in pledging its full support for the VIP’s 13 candidates for the June 8, 2015 general elections.

The youth group confirmed that over the past months it had the opportunity to observe and evaluate the perspectives and agendas of the various candidates who had expressed an interest in running and have been confirmed and ratified by the VIP Governing Body, its Congress.

Why support VIP candidates?

The Ready Committee noted that all 13 candidates representing the VIP in the upcoming general elections in June have four important values that are good for the interest of the youth of the Virgin Islands.

“The 13 candidates possess high integrity, love for people, love for country and have vision and solutions to move the youth agenda forward, hence the country.”

New leadership in Ready Committee

Meanwhile, the group has announced that its Vice President Kevon S. Lettsome has been named Acting President until after the 2015 General Elections. He replaces Rajah A. Smith, who is a candidate for the VIP in the Second District.

“This is new for me so I will work with the team and members of the group as President of the Ready Committee and whatever decisions are made are a committee decision and not a president decision, decisions that are in the best interest of the youth and the party,” Mr Lettsome told Virgin Islands News Online.

Ready Committee bringing youthful hype to campaign

The Ready Committee, through its new president, said it will be assisting in the campaign exercises of all the VIP district candidates from 1 to 9 as well as the Territorial At Large candidates. “We will work hand in hand with them, helping them with their songs and bringing a new hype to the party….we are trying to change up and shake up things [on the campaign trail].

Lettsome also said that since it’s a “snap election” the youth arm will have to work harder as a team and as individuals with different strengths in trying to encourage young voters to be affiliated with the party as well as making the right choice come election day.

He added that the team will be in Virgin Gorda on Monday May 11, 2015 for the campaign launch of Ninth District Candidate, Elton L. Sprauve. “As we going all out for ‘All Out’.”

Why vote for the VIP?

Ask what would be his advice to the youth voters this election season, Mr Lettsome said he would encourage them to “vote for the party that has the interest of you, the party that has the manifesto that is going to be best for you, one that will cater for you and your children’s future. Vote for a party that will give us educational and other opportunities, not just for friends or affiliates of the party,” Mr Lettsome told this news site.

You hearing from the party or you hearing from the party's groupies? the candidates themselves need to say clearly what they have to bring to the table. Can't hear that yet.

Hearing what? The young man hasn't said one thing about why the youth should support VIP. They are on facebook talking all sorts of $h!t about how bad NDP are but cannot tell you what VIP will do. The one with the trucks still upset because he didn't get to build the wall up emmanuel hill, up and down talking about NDP only got money people. Ask him when last a brokes man gave his trucks work to do! VIP are promoting IGNORANCE which is why no youth are supporting them. When you see NDP youth extravaganza in a few weeks you will understand. WHen you see NDP at -large launch at the Plaza next week with the youth in control, you will see where the youth are. VIP will RIP soon.

How do you expect to hear from them when the Premier did such an injustice to the country by calling a snap election giving other candidates only 4 weeks to prepare!!!! You need to stop talking non-sense and see that the NDP does not care about the country because if they did, they would have given others the opportunity to discuss and debate issues!!!!! Why did they rush to close down the house of Assembly???? They have something to hide that is why...before that rush, they would have gotten my support but no more!!!!!!!! They do not care about us the voters, we should have the opportunity to listen to what others have to say before we make our decision on who should be elected to represent us...

The NDP has numerous unpaid bills ...
I know youths personally that wait months on a government check not for the lack of trying to receive payment. (getting a run a round)
Now the only running their doing is running the youths dry ,and the sad thing is we are so blind to it ! Imagine we(theyouths) have conditioned ourself to TEK bad treatment just because every August an December they give out petty contracts to cut grass on the road.

This election is like NO OTHER we the youths (registered or not ) have to start asking questions and letting our voices be heard.

The VIP line up is OK could it have been better maybe so. But their new to the games and that doesn't mean they won't get the job done!

when voting ,vote for country not for self.

plse note,we have a new hospital.medical technician to pay, medication to buy.How do you expect these
things to be funded if fees are not raised to cover these expenses.when govt has to fund these items and
cannot find funds to do other things we say the govt is starving us.The NHI should have been in place
before the hospital had even finish that would have cushion some of fees we now see.but the vip dropped
the ball.In respect to increments it is better late than never. If someone admits that he has not paid your
increments but will pay that is a true person, not like some who blames the civil servants for their failure.
With the firing of people without reason .I was an manager for adept of a company and people get fired
for not performing their their duties or living up to expectations. You cannot run a company or an govt
with people not pulling their weight then every must fall.

there are many industries we can engage as a people but we will not because we do

Truth be told we also saw victimization, conflict of interest and they blatantly continue to lie about it, no respect for people's personal belonging, threatening people living, think they better than us but we good enough for a X. Waiting to get back in to impose NHI even though the majority speak against it but they would not get that chance, upheld a disrespectful House of Assembly and I never in all my years ever saw that house carry on so for such a length of time, refusing to truthfully and fully answer questions forgetting that the greater population wants to hear the answers "truthfully". We do not want to hear no explanation on a campaign trail. No! Claims of being broke but as soon as they got in they took our same youths to do what they campaigned against which was bush cutting. To add to the injury they hired consultants right away but yet civil servants had to wait until the eve of election to get their increments that was due to them. Indirectly using a whooping $16 million of our social security money to pave all over the place like a green grasshopper out of control as campaign funds because that is what it is. Not recognizing all the players in various areas. Paying out how much on a cruise ship firework that was not necessary trying to cloud people thinking but it did not work. Nice cruise line though and many more will come after we vote NDP out. Give credit where credit is due. Disrespecting representatives by giving their colleagues contracts in districts to give out like we vote for them. They are not even in yet and already pick up that Nasty Disrespectful Pompous (NDP) habit and just imagine more of that behavior getting back in the house. The $40 slap in the face but yet on VG $100,000 was given for festival that we cannot find all of to this very day. Telling lies that VIP left other districts behind from 2007 to 2011 news flash there was only one NDP district left so let the representative say if he was left behind. I shall stop here so you or likewise can rebut.
