ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Some three months after this news site reported that Kalik Aaron, one of two victims in a scooter accident at the Hannah's Estate area in August, was flown to a Miami Hospital, word now comes that he is 90% recovered and has returned to school in the US Virgin Islands.

According to a close relative of Aaron, Kalik is now walking with little discomfort and his facial surgery was also a success.

The young man had surgery on one of his legs on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 and also underwent facial surgery.

The same relative reported that the other accident victim, Trevon Thomas, who was flown out to a St. Thomas, USVI hospital, is also fully recovered. “He is in good condition. I saw him recently walking about and he seems to be a 100 percent recovered now.”

15-year-old Aaron and 18-year-old Thomas were reportedly riding a scooter when they collided with a green jeep in the Hannah's Estate area. According to a police source, Aaron suffered a broken leg and broken jaw bone while injuries to Thomas had remained unclear at the time.

And the relative of Aaron has also revealed that to this day the family has no idea who was the driver of the jeep involved in the accident.

“No one ever called, I can’t even say if it was a man, woman or child that was driving that vehicle because up to this day we have not heard from them. I mean no one plans to get in an accident but if you do you could at least try to call or check on how the people were doing.”

The family member also claimed that the police is yet to approach them on the matter, which is another reason why he still does not know who was the driver involved.

Excerpt from original story:

Meanwhile, when Virgin Islands News Online had arrived on the scene on the day of the accident, pieces of the motorcycle were scattered along the road and the badly damaged bike was in a corner off the main road.

Speaking to Virgin Islands News Online, Delbert Henry Jr. who was selling kenips at the side of the road when the accident took place, disclosed that he saw the riders coming from an easterly direction at a very fast rate when a green jeep which was leaving the supermarket entrance tried to swerve to avoid the young men. However, the scooter hit the right side of the jeep, sending the passenger up into the air and down on the side of his face.

According to Mr. Henry, the rider of the bike seemed to have suffered the worse injury, with injuries to the right side of his face and some of his teeth missing. The eyewitness and Sea Cows Bay resident said he rushed to the aid of the young men and immediately called the ambulance.

He also recalled that neither of the riders were wearing a helmet and the rider was unconscious for a while, and the passenger had seemed “fazed”.

Another public spirited citizen, who was said to be a nurse employed overseas but was on vacation, also assisted in stabilizing the riders before the ambulance arrived.

Also on the scene was 3rd District Representative Hon. Julian Fraser, RA who told this news site that he arrived after hearing of the incident which he described as “regrettable”. Hon. Fraser said his heart goes out to the families of the two young men and he wished both of them a speedy recovery. He also urged residents to drive carefully throughout the festival season.

      My prayers remain with both family. I am not sure of the cause of the accident, but drivers on the streets of Tortola have to be cautious and look out for thoes young people on scooters;

You know it completely baffles me why some riders in this place continues to speed when it seems like the hospital here can't even treat people for anything more than a headache!!!!

Had the bikers been insured, I'm sure you would know who the driver of the jeep was! Just more idiots on bikes causing a nuisance. They should trace the driver of the jeep and apologise, not the other way round.

    Riiiight...

So your kid is riding without a helmet as a passenger on a scooter going way too fast. They hit this guy's car and you expect the driver to come bearing gifts?

Ok. This is an interesting alternative universe!

It should be obvious that the vehicle entered the traffic on the wrong side of the road hence the driver unsucessfully attempted to get out of the way of the scooter who was on the right side of the road.! God does not like ugly!

Lucky I don't believe in your imaginary god then eh?

Exactly how should it be obvious? Have you read the police report?

It is better to remain silent and let people think you are a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt.
