'No work, no pay!'- Deputy Gov to civil servants working from home
According to Deputy Governor, Mr David D. Archer Jr; however, working from home does not mean productivity will not be monitored.
"We want to be extremely accountable during this time to make sure that when you are supposed to be working you're not sleeping or you're not playing," he said on Wednesday, April 29, 2020, during a live update on Facebook.
Mr Archer Jr said government workers will also be required to take a register which records the time put in and the task performed on the job.
According to the Governor, technology such as teleconferencing and other digital communication mediums will also be utilised to serve clients and help the sector progress.
More Productivity
He said while technological systems have some limitations, he called virtual meetings 'too effective', noting that requests are now being made for virtual meetings to be held at 09:00pm and even as late as 12:00am.
"We do have a system of accountability so that we can ensure that we are getting value for money and our clients are being served well," he said.
The Governor said those who report to work on Monday will work from 8:00am to 12:30pm in keeping with the 1:00pm - 6:00am curfew in the Territory.
"No work, no pay," he said will be the mandate from Monday onwards.

However, we all can agree that Internet service in the BVI simply sucks, and the cost is no different.
Always talking some sh*t bout down island... I'm glad there's a local company thriving but when cct use to be overcharging y'all asses and charging for in coming calls etc yall was complaining.. When bmobile came y'all was rejoicing.... Damn ungrateful...think y'all Above People everything is us this and that...you're located in the effing Caribbean.
This is an island!!!!! The us will label this as third world just the same as any other island. Time to change that mentality.
Digicel to CCT and what is hurtful you paying your bill on time each month: having a provider from USA will be a plus: some residents usually place calls throughout the Caribbean others place calls throughout North America: with all the people at home, the internet service have become more sickening again you paying for bad quality service
Carve out a space at home if you can, where at the end of the work day you can turn the laptop off and leave that room. Everyone on my team is exhausted because we are dedicated and you tell yourself let me deal with this one last issue or email and I will log off...nope, an hour or 2 later you are still online working. We tallk about it openly in our staff meeting and we've concluded that we feel guilty and don't want to be accused of or viewed as not doing our fair share of work, so we are all overworking ourselves. We also have so many more meetings because you can't just get up an walk next door and discuss the issues or ask a question so now you get the real work done after hours when all the meetings are over. It is truly exhausting mentally and not a cake walk like commenters on this site think. Good luck to all my people! make the best of it though.
We all are aware of the abuse of privilege by persons working from home, and the question here is, do these home-workers give a data of what they accomplished for the day?
You have the following persons working overtime during covid-19:-
Police, customs,immigration, NURSES,DOCTORS,other health workers,etc,,
These workers should get heavy overtime pay.
No work-no pay.
That's the best headline for the week.
