ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Commuters traversing the Road Town area tomorrow, Sunday January 6, 2012 are assured that there will be no disruption in traffic as the Water and Sewage Department embarks on a project to remove and relocate a water main in the area.

Yesterday, January 4, 2013, the Water and Sewerage Department issued an advisory informing customers in the Road Town area between Bobby’s Supermarket and Simply Delicious Restaurant, that there will be no water supply on Sunday January 6, 2013. It said that the disruption will last from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

“The reason for this interruption is to relocate the water distribution main near the Cutlass Building.” states the advisory. Contacted by this news agency, the department’s Acting Deputy Director ,Mr Bernard Grant gave the assurance that the process will not necessitate the disruption of the smooth flow of traffic nor the destruction of any road way.

He explained that a section of the Simply Delicious Restaurant was constructed over the main pipe. “We will be working mainly in the compound of the Simply Delicious Restaurant. We’ll have to install a length of pipe.” said the engineer. He said that he does not anticipate the project going beyond the scheduled four hour period.

“The Water and Sewerage Department sincerely regrets any inconvenience that this interruption may cause and asks the affected customers for their patience while the water line is being relocated.

The Department remains committed to providing a continuous supply of safe potable water to all BVI residents.” said the release.
