Nine arrested & questioned over HM Prison stabbing death

- RVIPF says charges yet been laid as investigations continue

BALSAM GHUT, Tortola, VI- Nine male inmates at Her Majesty’s Prison in Balsam Ghut, Tortola, have since been arrested and questioned in relation to the stabbing death of fellow inmate Nickail Chambers on the evening of May 30, 2021.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) in a release today, June 17, 2021, indicated that four other inmates were also injured during the stabbing incident. 

Officers of the RVIPF's Major Crime Team say investigations are ongoing into the death of Chambers after he succumbed to his wounds. 

All other injured inmates taken to the hospital have since been released.

The now dead Chambers was sentenced in the High Court on July 12, 2019, to spend 10 years in prison for possession of a firearm and attempted murder.

Police say charges have not yet been laid in relation to the prison killing.

      How could you arrest someone who's already arrested? Was it visitors at the party? BVI ain't a real place.

    They all know who did this, but if anyone were to say he would be branded a snitch and would not be safe in the prison!

    Street code means you cannot say what you know to the authorities since you would create enemies and have no where to turn in that prison!

    All be it, if the culprit is not held accountable this behavior will be encouraged to be repeated!! And soon enough more frequent stabbing and death will occur!

    Protect or transfer anyone willing to give information!

    So long to get to the bottom of this? What do they pay guards for it’s literally their job to know what going on up there. The updates on something so serious should be more forthcoming. We all have families or k ow of someone up there and may be concerned.
