NFL fans across the VI witness Broncos win Superbowl 50
As the action was taking place, this news site’s roving cameras captured the atmosphere at various venues across the territory.
One of the venues visited was Aromas, a new bar and lounge opened in the Tortola Pier Park.
There, fans had a chance to enjoy the game in a not too crowded or congested atmosphere, braced by the ocean breeze.
In addition to the indoor seating, some chose to relax outside on the deck, greeted by a fantastic view of the sea and of some of the other buildings along the pier park, although the attention would have been on the mega screen and projector. Fans inside watched the game on three large screen televisions.
One man said that while he was not a particular fan of any of the competing teams, he was there for the atmosphere. “I just here enjoying the game friend. I ain’t backing none of the teams,” the man said.
Warren D. Wintz was one of the patrons enjoying the game and took time out to chat with us. “I am having a good time…it’s a nice atmosphere. I’m enjoying the game. I’m a Panthers fan all the way,” he said.
While he said the Panthers did not come in as the underdogs, at that point of the game it looked certain in what direction the game was headed. This was before halftime.
“We believe that [the Panthers] will pull it off…the offence is clicking, defence is doing good. It is a possibility that they stop Denver’s run,” said Wintz.
Over at Le Petit, there was a smaller crowd but they were nevertheless enthusiastic about the game and also the advertisements which were aired during the breaks in the game.
Food, family & fun @ De Loose Mongoose
De Loose Mongoose was also one of the hot spots to view the game yesterday as NFL fans enjoyed the game beachside with a gentle sea breeze offering a soothing sensation that may have done well to calm nerves throughout the game. The atmosphere was also one of food, family friends and fun.
Many fans were very upfront about who they were supporting for Super Bowl 50 and were willing to put their money where their mouths were.
Judging from the roars and “whoos and awwwws,” it may appear that most of the fans were not getting justice from their team of support choice as few and apart were the revellery. As the 4th quarter began to close, many, especially tourists, departed in apparent disappointment that Panthers were going down to the Broncos.
As for the sizable number that remained, the end of the game meant a chance to wash down with some good reggae, drinks and what was left of the finger licking food at the bar. The favourite seemed to have been that of jerk pork done by business partner Neil Cline.
NFL fans on JVD & Norman Island also caught the action
On the Sister Island of Jost Van Dyke, the action was at the Coco Loco bar in White Bay and also at Foxy’s in Great Harbour as locals and tourists alike got in on the action.
Over on Norman Island, a large crowd gathered at Pirates Bight for the big game as they sipped on their favourite drinks and cheered the many exciting plays of their favourite teams to cap off another beautiful day in paradise.
Dinner was done buffet style as the games were viewed on two large TV screens, much to the comfort and satisfaction of patrons.
