New Premier and Cabinet report to duty November 10

Premier Smith.
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Premier D. Orlando Smith, OBE and his Cabinet had their first formal day in office yesterday, Thursday November 10, 2011 and immediately began moving forward with fulfilling their commitment to the people of the Virgin Islands (VI).

Premier Smith told the Department of Information and Public Relations that his Government right away began focusing on the financial condition of the Territory.

“Our first priority is the economy and we must get it back on track,” Premier Smith said.

He added that their first order of business is to establish a Small Business Bureau because small businesses are central drivers of the economy; they help to circulate the money generated from tourism.
