New Features, Look And Upgrade To HM Customs’ Website

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Her Majesty’s (HM) Customs Department continues to modernise its services and is announcing that its Web site now has a new look with added features and upgrades to allow for easy navigation and improved services.

According to  Commissioner Mr. Wade Smith, persons now visiting www.HMCustoms.gov.vg will appreciate user friendly  enhanced features, more information on the  department’s  services and activities,  in addition to policies and procedures that are in compliance with the Territory’s Customs laws.

Hesaid the initiative was necessary to increase public awareness and interaction and to allow customers to complete some procedures online to  help save processing time.

“I encourage the public to utilise our enhanced website as we provide current information on HM Customs procedures and services in the Virgin Islands,” he said. Additionally, he said improvement to the Web was important so thatusers around
the world seeking information on the Territory’s policies and procedures have access to information.

“This thirst for information  further prompted the  department to upgrade its services to meet the needs of the international community.”

The  enhanced Web site features  policies  and  procedures, a  section which provides valuable information about items that are prohibited from entering or leaving the Territory;  vessel procedures;  forms  and  legislations  including the New Trader Declaration Form along with other HM Customs forms, applications, permits and licences, which are available to download.  Other updates include news features and releases, notices, upcoming auctions, and other Government related links.

The site also has more colour and animation with an interface that is easy to navigate. The public is invited to log on to www.HMCustoms.gov.vg, to view the website and give comments and suggestions.

The Government of the Virgin Islands is moving towards providing more eGovernment services to enhance service delivery.
