NDP's ‘Juggy’ vows to assist hurricane-affected areas in D5

- Says he recognizes that more needs to be done for the people
Elvis J. Harrigan aka 'Juggy', the Fifth District Candidate contesting the 2019 polls under the Hon Myron V. Walwyn led National Democratic Party (NDP 1) said it is of paramount importance that help be given to District 5, to aid in its recovery from the ravages of the 2017 hurricanes. Photo: Facebook
“Restoration of homes and businesses in the district is of paramount importance… roads, drainages, grooming our roadsides and properties are some of the areas for immediate attention,” Mr Harrigan said on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, in addressing those gathered at the NDP’s Fahie Hill District Rally. FAHIE HILL, Tortola, VI - Elvis J. Harrigan aka 'Juggy', the Fifth District Candidate contesting the 2019 polls under the Hon Myron V. Walwyn (AL) led National Democratic Party (NDP 1), said it is of paramount importance that help be given to District 5 to aid in its recovery from the ravages of the 2017 hurricanes.

Two years later, according to the fifth district candidate—who is running under the same NDP 1 party accused of doing little to help citizens’ plight—Mr Harrigan says he recognises that there are still many persons in the district without roofs and suitable environments to lay their heads at nights.

Immediate Attention

“Restoration of homes and businesses in the district is of paramount importance… roads, drainages, grooming our roadsides and properties are some of the areas for immediate attention,” Mr Harrigan said on the evening of Tuesday, January 29, 2019, in addressing those gathered at the NDP’s Fahie Hill District Rally.

“I will continue to assist to have these areas rectified quickly… given available resources and manpower, not only from government but also other organisations that were and still are instrumental in our recovery,” he promised.

Further, in a move to combat some of the social ills facing today’s youth, Mr Harrigan called on parents to enlist their children in service organisations, institutions and clubs.

“When I was growing up the first thing that was introduced to me was scouting and service organisation,” he said.

“Therefore, I would like to strongly suggest to parents today to encourage your children to join these organisations to help build character, appreciation for community involvement, personal development and better persons to come.”

Back to Basics

“Let’s get back to basics,” he added, as he listed a number of clubs that exist today including those of churches.

He gaved himself a pat on the back for creating the Resource Centre in Huntums Ghut when he was in office previously and insists that it needs to be restarted, “We also need to restore the community centre in Long Trench to bring back programmes to fuel our retirees and allow them to interact with and teach our youths.”

Harrigan also plugged that sports tourism should continue to develop the territory’s youth and spent some time elaborating on ways the Fifth District can become a huge tourist destination in the Virgin Islands (VI).

@ How: with the RDA set and already in place; most of the promises from under the campaign tents might never materialised: the RDA administrators will ensure each month the loan payments come from the treasury to repay any outstanding loans: NDP left the country yet so many different Ps vying for political office....

Juggy unseat the late Delores Christopher in D-5 in 2007 with VIP, Delores cut he ass in 2011, slaughtered by Hon A. Maduro-Caines in D-6 in 2015 and now he is back in D-5 with NDP. Is there a likle grasshopping going on? The consensus among bloggers point in that direction. So if looks like a duck, waddle like duck, quacks like duck, it is a duck. The electoral process needs some credibility, integrity, loyalty........etc. Oh, snap! But everyone is loyal only unto him-/her-self. National interest before self interest.
