NDP is in a hurry! - Hon. O’Neal

Leader of the Opposition and Chairman of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP), Hon. Ralph T. O'Neal, OBE
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Leader of the Opposition and former Premier Ralph T. O’Neal, OBE believes the National Democratic Party (NDP) government is in a “hurry” but is hopeful that it could be able to make its plans a reality.

Asked by Virgin Islands News Online recently about his thoughts on the NDP administration over the past five months in office, Hon. O’Neal only said “They are in a hurry. Let’s hope they can get through with their plans as it would be for the benefit of the country.”

Over the past months, Government has revealed intentions of extending the cruise ship dock, having a new airport runway extension, building its own sewerage treatment plant, constructing a new vendor’s village, and completing the New Peebles hospital in 18 months among other things.

The former Premier has chosen to not speak much on the performance of the NDP so far and in fact hadn’t much to say about the recent National Budget either as he only said he believed the Budget would have been a well thought out one.

Hon. O’Neal has even refused to take up 1st District Representative Hon. Andrew Fahie’s recent challenge to him to defend his record as former Minister of Finance amid continued criticisms that the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) left the country broke.

The long-serving politician told Virgin Islands News Online that he was in no mood for a war of words but that the public would see and “get a chance to compare and see the difference between the two administrations”.

The VIP lost the November 2011 General Elections to the National Democratic Party (NDP).

Of course they are in a hurry, with hardly anything being done in the last four years they now have four years to do eight years worth of work!!!! To make it worse they have to do it with no money thanks to well thought out projects like the calming device at the airport, the wall at sea cows bay, the drag racing study and medical school study etc etc etc

Where are these roads. All I see happening in VG is nothing. If we don't do fundraising to make something happen it will stay there pending. All he did is pend big money on contract that does not make sense eg.bathroom national park area bathroom -one person toilet area built by his nephew he do not know for thousands of dollars. Yes everybody have to live except the poor in VG. He helps certain people and not all. Watch who gets contracts under him VIP supporters only not only do they get contracts but concrete roads to their homes and side wallls. Take note. I am poor and I will stay poor because I will make his office the last or never place on my list for help as a youny person of Virgin Gorda.
