CAPOON’S BAY, Tortola, VI – First District Representative Honourable Andrew A. Fahie has labelled the National Democratic Party (NDP) Government the most corrupt in the modern history of the Virgin Islands and called them morally and politically bankrupt.

He made the scathing remarks during the delivery of his First District Annual Report on Saturday evening January 24, 2015 at the Capoon’s Bay Recreational Grounds. Present with him was Chairman of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Honourable Julian Fraser RA (R3).

“This government has been the most corrupt government in the modern history of this Territory,” Hon Fahie said. “They have repeatedly used this Territory as their personal piggy banks; and they have refused to adhere to the principles of good governance,” he said.

“Project NDP has proven to be morally and politically bankrupt and corrupt,” he said.

“They only adhere to the rules when it benefits them and theirs. After all, Crafts alive was well over a million dollars and no tendering was done for that project; Spooner Estate roads and walls was well over a million dollars and no tendering was done for that project; Georgie Hill road project was well over a million dollars and no tendering was done for that project. The list can go on and on,” he said.

“We are for the petty contract system. As a matter of fact the VIP created the petty contract system to empower the people not to punish the people. The tendering process cannot be ignored but that cannot be used only when it is convenient to eliminate persons,” said Hon Fahie.

“They have ensured jobs for their boys; projects for their friends; and have left you to fend through getting the crumbs from their corrupted tables. But we are a people of dignity and we are saying enough,” he declared.

“We are saying that the people's time will soon come. We are saying that the election must have consequences for those involved in corruption and kickbacks,” he charged.

“The people deserve better; and the people shall get better. As the psalmist says: weeping endureth for the night, but joy cometh in the morning. With team VIP a better day is coming!” he declared.

So Andrew, you have all this evidence of the NDP using this Territory as their personal piggy bank and is guilty of corruption. As a representative of the people, what have you done about it? Did you file a formal complaint anywhere anytime? I so glad I followed my mind and did not go to Capoons Bay and listen to your immoral drivel. Andrew you are not functioning. Blowing hot air and accusations without evidence is not only pathetic, it is unconscionable and it is a sin. I lost respect for you as a Gov minister a long time ago but now I have little respect for you as a man and a so called Man of the Church. You are behaving as one with little intelligence and it is embarrassing to see elders looking up at you from their seats. The VIP is out Andrew. Plant yourself, gain respect and move on. No need to sink further with Fraser.

We need to adapt a culture where the corrupt fears the incorruptible in the Virgin Islands and not the other way around. Speak truth to Justice. Be seen as acting within the legal aspects of law, order, governance and transparency at ALL times. Trust God ONLY.

The real solution is to grow the economy and away with the NDP tax and lack of investment economics.
