ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Chairman and former Leader of the Opposition, Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) says it is historic that the National Democratic Party (NDP) now controls both the Government and the Opposition within the Virgin Islands’ House of Assembly (HoA).

He made this observation during a press conference on Monday, January 7, 2019, at the studios of the Caribbean Broadcast Network (CBN) in Road Town, the Capital City.

Total Control

“The records will reflect that the NDP Government has controlled 12 of the last 20 years of governance, including the last 8 years,” Mr Fahie said as he reflected on the NDP’s rule in the Territory.

“History will also show that after splitting of the party, the National Democratic Party now controls both the Government and the Opposition, historic indeed,” the VIP Chairman pointed out.

He said long before the hurricanes of 2017, he took a motion of no confidence in the Minister of Finance, Dr the Honourable D. Orlando Smith (AL) to the HoA over lack of transparency and accountability in the handling of the territory’s finances as a result of poor governance.

“The only challenge that I now have is that members of the NDP who refuse to attend meetings of the Public Accounts Committee and cause it not to function now sits as the majority of the opposition and will pretend to hold their very own government responsible for actions in which they were fully involved,” Mr Fahie said.

The NDP breakaway group, Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM), is headed by former key National Democratic Party (NDP1) member, Hon Ronnie W. Skelton (AL).

The VIP can find the problems. I have not heard a single solution yet with a full slate of candidates. You can fool some people some time. You can't fool all the people all the time.

You have to live under a rock to post that VIP have NOT given solutions. Check each candidate's facebook page and listen to all the rallies. The VIP have the best solutions and the best team hands down.
