NDP 1 spent all funds saved for rainy days - José de Castro

-Says VI needs to put Hon Ronnie W. Skelton to manage finance
“You need to know why there is such a fire in my voice when I’m speaking about the things that affect you, why I have such a passion for the things that happen in this district… why I’m here, I’m not here for politics to change me, I’m here to change the politics,” Mr de Castro told those gathered at the meeting. “We need to return to the days of accountability, integrity and transparency and how the people’s money gets spent… and this is why we need to vote in large numbers to return Hon Skelton to the Ministry of Finance,” de Castro pointed out. Photo: PVIM

VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI – District nine candidate of the National Democratic Party (NDP 1) breakaway group, Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIN-NDP2), Jose C. B de Castro, is adamant that for accountability and transparency to return to the Virgin Islands (VI), the Territory needs to put former NDP 1 front-man, Hon Ronnie W. Skelton (AL) to manage its finances.

The D9 Candidate, made his comments at a PVIM meeting on January 12, 2019, on Virgin Gorda, where he says he is not here for politics to change him, rather to change the politics of the VI.

Financial crisis

“You need to know why there is such a fire in my voice when I’m speaking about the things that affect you, why I have such a passion for the things that happen in this district… why I’m here, I’m not here for politics to change me, I’m here to change the politics,” Mr de Castro told those gathered at the meeting.

“I’m not up here smiling and laughing and there is a reason for that… this country is in a serious financial situation and from where I sat as the Deputy Director of Public Works, one of the highest-ranking government officials, I saw the truth,” he said.

“When we’re hearing from some of the politicians that the economy was robust, the truth is that they spent all the funds that we saved for a rainy day and hurricane Irma came and expose them,” de Castro said in launching an attack at the NDP 1.

Skelton for Finances - de Castro

He says it is time for a change, “This is one of the main reasons that we need to make a change at the Ministry of Finance and put somebody with a firm hand to manage the Ministry of Finance.”

“We need to return to the days of accountability, integrity and transparency and how the people’s money gets spent… and this is why we need to vote in large numbers to return Hon Skelton to the Ministry of Finance,” de Castro pointed out while urging that Hon Skelton—a former NDP 1 key member—is the best man for the job.

“The only way we can put him there to manage the money, is we need to bring his team to go along with him in the next House of Assembly (HoA),” de Castro implored in urging the people of VG to vote the PVIM into office.

Mr de Castro recently came in second at a debate in the same district where only 20 per cent of residents on social media listening and watching, supported his plans and policies.

Please don't go there playing the blame game, they were all there trying to make our country a better place to live, a little heck up came and you all want to blame one person as if MYRON WALYMN was the only person in the NDP. Myron brought the NDP to the public with his skills. Give him his coat of many colours, don't go around as if he was the fault. Talkig about a wall, what happen to the airport, bridge, hospital and the lists goes on, come on man.

I'm not saying he don't have his faults like all of us but he is one of the best right now for the BVI as a minister of government. One thing he has over a lot of them is LEADERSHIP SKILLS.

Can anyone recall the prediction I made some months ago that NDP would self destruct? Well here I am again. Voters of the Virgin Islands will be going to the Polls twice this year...…. Remember I said so.

Ok, Jose your leader and the other two rejects from NDP 1, were apart of that team that made those crazy decisions to waste the territory's money!!!!!!!! They agreed in crippling the people!!!!!!! They had many opportunities to stop them but they did not, now that they lost the leadership of the NDP 1, they are talking nonsense!!!! The people are not fools, putting back anyone of those two parties (NDP 1 and 2) would mean keeping the VI in the bad state it is in now.
