ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The National Bank of the Virgin Islands (NBVI), in a collaborative effort which included the pooling of sums donated by the NBVI, together with personal donations from members of staff, successfully raised $1,570 to support the efforts of Ms Jasmine Watson, in her attempt to raise funds for her grandson, Jahdiel Watson.

A short handover ceremony was held at the bank’s main branch on March 21, 2019, where Ms Watson was presented with the donation in support of 4 year-old Jahdiel, who was diagnosed with kidney cancer in January 2019.

Ms Watson was extremely appreciative and expressed gratitude for the contribution which she said, would certainly contribute to Jahdiel’s medical expenses.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of National Bank, Ms Joy Francis, commented—in a press statement on March 21, 2019—that, “By detecting cancer at its earliest stage, we seize the greatest opportunity for a success story.”

She noted, “…we are happy that Jahdiel has begun his treatment and is on the road to recovery.”

The NBVI CEO reminded that while the bank donates to the BVI Cancer Society annually, “Jahdiel’s story touched me and I felt led to do a special donation towards his cause…I also wish to encourage other corporates and the wider community to contribute where possible.”
