Nagico & BVI HIV/AIDS Foundation form new partnership
This is according to Managing Director of Nagico Insurances Shan Mohamed and the BVI HIV/AIDS Foundation’s Cid Nava who met at a recent meeting of the Rotary Club of Road Town, where members of the popular social organization learned more about the work of the Foundation.
Nava was able to share an idea with Mohamed that had every potential to see a massive HIV/AIDS awareness campaign sweep thought the length and breadth of the Virgin Islands. This seems well on its way to fruition as Nagico Insurances hopped on board as the usual community spirited corporate entity to make the vision come to light in a massive way. It is a raffle that has as the main prize a brand new motor car.
"Know Your Status" is the name of the awareness campaign and of 500 tickets printed less than 100 remains on sale. The lucky winner gets a brand new Mercedes Benz.
Mr Mohamed explained, “He (Cid Nava) shared with us an initiative which is a raffle of a car which will raise much needed proceeds for BVI HIV/AIDS Foundation and I think that it is something that we can identify with and we wanted to lend our support.”
Nagico has purchased a quantity of tickets which will be used on Nagico’s Facebook page to promote the Foundation and the car raffle. “So we want to ask persons to go on our Facebook page and like our page for an opportunity to win these tickets.”
Mohamed said that they are very supportive of the cause of fighting the spread of HIV, breaking the stigma that is attached to the condition, seeing that persons living with and affected by HIV/AIDS get the same care and support as persons living with any other chronic illnesses and in that way raise the level of HVI/AIDS awareness in the VI.
On the other hand President of the BVI HIV/AIDS Foundation Mr Nava was impressed by the move of Nagico and has welcomed with open arms their push. “It’s always nice to work with companies that are creative and are innovative, that really care about the cause, that’s important as the HIV/AIDS Foundation.”
Nava said that Nagico is just one of several entities that have supported them in the cause, with the other being Caribbean Insurers Ltd., another insurance company. “We’ve been very lucky because we’ve had a lot of support from many different organizations in the community. Nagico has been a major supporter and so has Caribbean Insurers Limited who has assisted us to put out the car in front and has sold a lot of tickets for us. We also have a lot of trust companies that have gotten involved,” Mr Nava said.

There will be more raffle ticket giveaways in the coming weeks as part of a partnership between Nagico Insurances and the Foundation as together we raise awareness about HIV/AIDS in the BVI,” states Nagico on their Facebook page.
Both Nava and Mohamed alluded to their new partnership as one that has very promising potential for the future and the fight to raise the level of awareness of HIV/AIDS is in the VI is at an all-time high.
The raffle is set for drawing on at the end of July, 2015. Tickets can be purchased at Caribbean Insurers Ltd., and at International Motors.
