VI horse owners optimistic

Contacted for a comment, trainer at The Boy's Stables Enos Z. Aaron said their horse Tenango, running in the Governor's Cup, is expected to do well. “We have Apollo Sky running in a six furlong, we have Yes By Eric running a mile and 7/8 which should be a C Class race and we have Wrol Up running a B Class one mile.”

He said his horses are well fit and ready to go. “I am expecting a lot out of them...I am expecting four wins out of them,” he said.

Aaron added that the stables bought Tenango in the United States. “We had him a while and we brought him to the USVI where a good friend of ours is there training him and we are expecting a good run,” said Aaron.

12 Tortola horses to compete

President of the Virgin Islands Horse Owners' Association, Patsy C. Lake is optimistic of the VI's chances of returning the Governor's Cup to the territory.

“We have 12 horses going. We are hoping that they could be successful in winning the Governor's Cup and that it will be coming back to the BVI...There are lots of other races and so we are hoping that our horse will do exceedingly well,” she said.

Virgin Islands horse owner Lesmore Smith said he expects Giant Valley to win the Governor's Cup. He also has Bellamy Chief and Crazy Laura in supporting races and he expects big things from them as well, as he is for Exploring.

“So I am competing in the four competitive races of the day and I am looking at a chance of winning as much as I can,” he said.
