ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Three men who appeared before the Magistrate’s Court today, May 30, 2014 charged with the murder of Daren Allen ‘Tiger’ Hodge were allegedly fingered by an accomplice as being at the dead man’s house on the night of the murder and also allegedly fled in his jeep from the scene of the crime.

The three, Marcus Lloyd, 43, of Harrigan Estate, Wakeem Guishard, 26, of Carrot Bay and Mitch Christopher, 29, of Harrigan Estate, were not required to plea to the indictable charge murder which occurred on September 10, 2010 at Hodge's Meyers Estate Home.

Guishard was represented by attorney Jamal Smith while Christopher was represented by attorney Stephen Daniels; Lloyd was unrepresented during the arraignment.

Lloyd and Guishard were arrested on May 28 and interviewed under caution by Police while Christopher, who is currently serving a sentence in an unrelated matter was interviewed the following day. All three of the men have denied the charges.

The prosecution stated that Hodge arrived at his home at around 9:30PM on the night in question and was driving a white Suzuki Grand Vitara. When he entered his home, he was shot multiple times. The suspects then fled the scene in Hodge’s vehicle which was later found a short distance away from his home.

As a result of investigations, Terrence Abdullah Charles was arrested in 2011 for the murder and he subsequently pleaded guilty and was sentenced before the High Court.

The court heard that investigations continued based on information received from another accomplice in the shooting incident and as a result of this information, the three accused were arrested. The information received allegedly placed the accused men at the scene of the crime.

The prosecution alleged that the accomplice said the men were all present together during the shooting and fled in the victim's vehicle. It was further stated that the men did not deny having an association with the accomplice who fingered them in the allegations.

The matter is expected to come up again for report on June 27, 2014 when attorneys will decided whether it will be put before the High Court by way of paper committal or by the process of a preliminary inquiry.
