ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Representative for the First District Honourable Andrew A. Fahie said almost everything that is known of Government by the public is as a result of questions posed by the Opposition, testimony that the Opposition has been carrying out its functions effectively despite insinuations to the contrary.

He made the statement last Wednesday during an airing of the Virgin Islands Party’s (VIP) talk show VIP Let’s Talk on ZBVI 780 AM.

“Most of what is known in this territory is known as a result of the work we did in Opposition. If we weren’t asking questions, if we weren’t digging and being the people’s eyes and ears we would not even know that the dock is $20 million over. They did not volunteer that information,” he said.

He said that without the Opposition questions the public would not have known that there is $19 million of unpaid invoices or $100 million of over expenditure over the past three years.

“They make it seems that people are doing well when most people in this country are caching hell,” he said.

Victimisation by the NDP

The senior Virgin Islands Party member said victimisation and trying to silence people are at an all-time high with the NDP administration. “They try to do things behind the scene to come after us and our families in many ways and then make it seem that this is not what they are doing,” he said.

The veteran politician argued that the people put him in the House of Assembly and as such he will continue to agitate on their behalf. “I am here because the people put me to be the voice of the voiceless and to give hope [in the hopelessness],” he said.

He also said that despite his giving his best of his ability in the First District, Government has shut down or cut down many things in the district.

The Opposition's questions have been treated with scant regard by the NDP Government, from shifting the alloted time for questions on the Order Paper to outright refusal to answer them or provide documents requested in the Virgin Islands House of Assembly.

This prompted Hon Fahie to label the NDP Government as the most corrupt in the history of the Virgin Islands. The accusation did not go down well with NDP party members, however, they have done little to counteract the allegation.

Fahie is correct. maybe some One should get the man who used to be in Immigration to say the reason why he was deliberately and wilfully victimized by Smith and his political gang. Many others were victimized Carrie O'neal, General Malone, Kharid Fraser, Eggy, yellow, Cuchie n bahula ..but that immigration move was very blatent and spiteful.
When JUSTICE is done it brings JOY to the righteous but TERROR to evildoers.

NDP Definitely not listening to the people--set of stubborn men and women.. example--Hospital board corruption--Cable TV high rates and poor service--Electricity, water--mandatory pension plan so workers can get something in their old age-- electricity use to go once a week sometimes twice, now its on consistently--Mini wages now in discussion---they full of tricks---only because of my option why I am voting for them.

You NDP voters are relentless. The pier got done but it was a project started by the VIP! And as the record shows, it's 20 mill over budget! NDP gets things done, but they do it the wrong way, hemorrhaging the future of our country. You people have no heart whatsoever. You guys pretend to care about the country but voting for this 1% government. They do not care about us as much as they care about lining their pockets.! its such a disgrace to see the state they have put our country in. People are suffering, but people only care about the promises they make now. They out here buying votes from the young people them. And instead of providing them with long term opportunities, they give them short term money and jobs, and they are falling for it. The NDP needs to go! I'm begging my people to vote with their conscience! Run them 1%ers out your district!
