ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The Virgin Islands is gradually rising among the bigger nations in ranking at International pageants with Mrs BVI Shondra N. Turnbull coming closest in history according to records.

The group of persons gathered last night December 13, 2019, at the Brandywine Rooftop Restaurant in Road Town Tortola burst into a loud scream of celebration when the head of organisation on the local scene and WIN BVI organization's Alicia Green announced at official reports from the Mrs Globe pageant/organization.

The results were that Mrs BVI scored two points less than the lowest scorer that made it to the top 5 in the contest and Turnbull, while elated was in a state of shock at the announcement as her eyes watered with gratitude as she commended her success to all her supporter.

"This is awesome, and I am humbled at this news, I am truly grateful for the support I received at all levels. I did it for you, for the BVI. Oh my, I feel like I won now hearing this," she said.

After the pageant, Mrs Turnbull expressed her gratitude and humility for the opportunity to be an ambassador and pledged to continue promoting holistic wellness for women.

And now that the Virgin Islands was ranked 6th among the 65 other countries., this is the first time the VI has ranked this high in the Mrs Globe Pageant competition and reports are that this is the first time a VI queen has ranked this high in an international pageant.

Not only did the Territory benefit from a high ranking in the competition but it can also boast about having the Director of the Year award for 2019, testament to the hard work and dedication exhibited by Director Alicia Green.

Mrs Turnbull told the gathering at the Brandywine Rooftop Restaurant that it was no easy run competing among the 60 plus women.

Congrats to the BVI Mrs. Globe committee and Mrs. Globe BVI. Miss Universe and Miss World are the main two internationally recognized pageants as it concerns degree of difficulty and number of participating countries. For example, these pageants don’t give conciliatory prizes to all contestants as Mrs. Globe does. You win or you lose with MU and MW. So Mrs. Globe might still be some ways away from being able to compare itself to the other two international pageants just yet in terms of ranking contestant participation internationally. Both MU and MW are in their 69th and 70th year and are known the world over. Also, with MU and MWO the information is public and searchable for all to see. It is not reliant on private information being reported back. That said, it is good that as a country, the BVI seems to be developing an appetite in pageantry now. So do be responsible and take these wins in the proper stride.
