Thanks to those who have helped in this time of need and let’s not be overly critical if we receive less than we were promised – That is the game of Politics and we do not know their most recent situation – Maybe they are worse off now or maybe they are Persons whom we discriminated against in the past… What is far more important is whether we help each other and thereby help ourselves.

This Nightmare is real when even the Statue of our National Hero Noel Lloyd has lost its legs and Big Buildings for Tourism and Financial Services mean nothing compared to our need for Food and Shelter… The BVI has been shocked and re-shocked – We are all in this together; homeless and jobless in our own Country with no time to find solace in blaming and shaming others for the uncontrollable wrath of Nature.

Instead of finger pointing let’s use that Energy to redouble our Efforts at solving Problems and creating Opportunities that will produce tangible results on the Road to Recovery… This task is Urgent and the longer we take fantasizing instead of recognizing reality the longer we will take to recover so, Please, please ignore those seeking to make a name by thanking their Gods for destroying our People.

Also, even as we appreciate Help let us also beware of those from outside and inside our Country who see this as an opportunity to fatten themselves at our Expense - Rather than caring and sharing they do more damage than Hurricanes by hoarding or jacking up the costs of Goods and Services to unaffordable levels as well as charging rents designed to drive us into Poor Houses and Shanty Towns.

To them this is a golden opportunity so we must learn to think for ourselves… Right now, our survival depends on every person with access and control to a square foot of land immediately planting short to long term crops and raising Animals to feed themselves and the Nation… Instead of burning and burying everything we should be separating and saving Woods, Plastics and Metals to be reused where possible.

It is also important for Persons to find avenues to vent their concerns and frustrations before cracking and causing more physical harm so we are privileged to have back VINO… We should not criminalize the Causalities so we welcome the reduction of Long Guns pointed in the faces of Innocent Children – We are not Refugees and this should not be seen as a UK Invasion – They are here to help.

Please note that most BV-Islanders hold UK Passports and are entitled to UK’s Protection… Furthermore, with UK in charge of present Emergency Operations it should free up our Politicians to plan Recovery Efforts such as Health, Education, Insurance Claims, Rebuilding, Job Opportunities and Social Justice and Equality – Focus less on controlling Food lines they neither created or provided.

Our survival requires short and long-term approaches from Leaders with the ability to recognize their ambitious limitations while focusing on the Big Picture... One such step means finding ways to compensate those who acted as Shelters for our People throughout these Crises – especially Hotels and Guest Houses who may receive no compensation because persons simply do not have the resources.

Meanwhile, it is good to hear that NHI is resurfacing but B&F Medical has remained open throughout and will accept NHI – I am somewhat disappointed that the Promises to us by made by those in charge regarding Emergency Power and Medical Supplies to meet more Needs of the People never happened… Nonetheless we all have Work to do and ours mean ‘Seeing All Patients and Turning No One Away’.
