PARAQUITA BAY, Tortola, VI- The 24th edition of the Mourant sponsored College Classic Race Series organised by H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) got off to a blistering start with Neil Riley returning from injury to lead the some 150 runners on Saturday, September 14, 2019.

Riley, who has been out of road racing since December of last year due to an Achilles tendon injury, blazed the 2-mile course in 10:56.68.

With Riley running unchallenged, the battle for second place was between Jelani Croal and former champion Reuben Stoby, who is also returning from Achilles tendon and ankle injuries that caused him to miss last year’s series.

With the two runners going neck and neck on the return, Croal outsprinted Stoby on the homestraight, crossing the finish line in 12:09.19 while Stoby clocked 12:13.59.

Another former champion, Khiry Creque, was fourth in 12:22.68.

Placing fifth overall and first for females was defending champion Katrina Lindsay in a time of 12:25.94.

Rosmond Johnson was second in 15:25.56 and Jessica Broderick third in 15:30.68.
