ST. THOMAS, USVI - A motorcyclist was badly injured late Wednesday night, March 6, 2019, during an accident that almost turned deadly, USVIPD Public Information Officer Glen Dratte confirmed to the Consortium.

Mr Dratte said the accident occurred at about 7:22 p.m. Wednesday, when a silver Nissan Pathfinder was heading westward on the right lane on Veteran’s Drive and was making a right turn northward on to General Gade (Irvin “Brownie” Brown Drive).

On the other side of the road was a man operating a white 2016 Yamaha 320 motorcycle, travelling eastward on the left lane on Veteran’s Drive. While heading east, however, the motorcyclist collided into the Nissan Pathfinder, which was attempting to turn right heading north, Mr Dratte said.

The driver of the Nissan did not sustain injuries, but the motorcyclist was rushed to the hospital for medical care, as he was hurt during the accident, according to police.

As of Thursday night, the motorcyclist was in stable condition, Mr Dratte confirmed.
