More showers & thunderstorms forecast for VI

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Department for Disaster Management is predicting more rain and thunderstorms for the Virgin Islands throughout today, November 3, 2013.

The territory has already been battered with heavy rains since yesterday.

In a press release sent around 7:25 A.M., the DDM said the combination of an area of low pressure in the Northern Caribbean Sea and a frontal boundary moving into the area from the west will continue to destabilized the atmosphere and enhance shower and thunderstorm activity over the British Virgin Islands.

Wx: 

Today: Cloudy to overcast with scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms.

Tonight: Cloudy to overcast with some more showers. Some heavy downpours in thunderstorms are still possible.

Winds: ESE at 07-12kts over land and peaking to near 15kts over open waters..

Seas: Slight, height 0.9-1.2m or 3-4ft..

Barometric Pressure: Near normal

Sunset today:  5:45 P.M.

Sunrise tomorrow:  6:09 A.M.

    Thank you DDM for keeping us informed. I live near the beach on the flat and our yard is flooded over the ankles. I was wondering what the upcoming forecast would be and now it is clear. Please keep us informed daily when there will be inclement weather so we can know how to prepare or go to higher ground.
