More firearm possessions in latest Police arrests

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Police have released a new list of arrests that occurred between October 7-13, 2012 that continue a worrying trend of gun possessions in the Territory. Below is the detailed list of arrests.

Unlawful Possession Of Firearm

  1. On 07-10-2012 at 0600hrs, Police arrested and charged 27-year-old Jamal Lewis a native of Trinidad residing aboard the barge Tortola Services berthed at West End for Unlawful Possession of Firearm/Explosives.
  2. 2.      On 13-10-2012 at 0250hrs, Police arrested and charged 29-year-old I-Roy Smith, a native of St Thomas residing in The Valley, Virgin Gorda, for Unlawful Possession of Firearm.  

HANDLING STOLEN GOODS

  1. On 07-10-2012 at 1110hrs, Police arrested and charged 56-year-old George Maduro of Zion Hill for the offence of Handling Stolen Goods.  Maduro was granted police bail in the sum of $5,000 with one surety for his appearance at Magistrate Court on 24-10-2012 at 0900hrs. 
  2. On 09-10-2012 at 1316hrs, Police arrested and charged a 16-year-old male of Huntums Ghut for the offence of Handling Stolen Goods.

THEFT

On 07-10-2012 at 0930hrs, Police arrested and charged a 17-year-old from Cane Garden Bay for Theft. He was granted police bail in the sum of $10,000 with one surety to appear before the Magistrate's Court sitting at John's Hole on 25-10-2012 about 0900hrs.

RIDING AN UNLICENCING SCOOTER

On 07-10-2012 at 1930hrs, Police reported a 15-year-old of Josiah's Bay for Riding Unlicensed and Uninsured scooter. 

UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED DRUG WITH INTENT

On 10-10-2012 at 0900hrs, Police arrested and jointly charged 22 years old Christine Stevens, a native of the BVI and 25 years old Kurkston Laurent native of Dominica, both residents of The Valley, Virgin Gorda for Possession of a Controlled Drug with Intent to Supply.
