Miss World BVI among the favourites to reach Top 12 @ Miss World
Among the favourites for Top 12!
And with Miss World BVI Rikkiya A. R. Brathwaite among the favourites with dedicated pageant fans to be a Top 12 Contender, The Virgin Islands, with a population of just over 30,000, will no doubt be among the over 150 nations where the Miss World Final show will be broadcast/live streamed with keen interest and the belief that Brathwaite can go all the way.
Brathwaite, 22, already has the honour of being the first contestant from the Virgin Islands to make the Top 40 at Miss World. She advanced by winning the 2019 Sports Challenge competition on November 28, 2019, beating out more than 30 contestants.
The Miss World BVI then showed her versatility by reaching the Top 5 of the Talent competition and then finished as First Runner Up in the Talent finals on December 10, 2019.
‘Super impressed’
Brathwaite has no doubt been impressive in London and Chairman of the Miss World BVI Organisation, Mr Damian C. Grange has said he is “super impressed” with her representation at the 69th Miss World.
“She has made us all proud and has exceeded my expectations - she has placed an international spotlight on the British Virgin Islands. This is even more evident, considering that she has been placed on lists of Miss World Top Picks from pageant watchers and predictors from around the world. Can you imagine...Miss World BVI is now a favorite for dedicated pageant fans to be at least a top 12 contender? That alone speaks volume and resulted in massive proportions for the BVI,” Mr Grange told Virgin Islands News Online today, December 13, 2019.
Mr Grange added that Brathwaite has done the work to reach the quarter finals but she continues to work very hard and “in my humble opinion, she deserves to be in the semifinals. But I continue to pray as you do have other girls who are working hard as well.”
With the voting now over; Mr Grange is encouraging persons to keep showing their support by commenting on the Miss World social media platforms and sending love and encouragement to Brathwaite.
“This has been a source of motivation for her and I’m sure will continue to be,” Mr Grange said as he extended gratitude to the VI community for the support shown so far.
To all the sponsors and contributors that made her being here possible, my heartfelt thank you.”
Gift by Anegada Beach Club raises the most $$ @ Miss World
Anegada Beach Club was particularly singled out for donating the BVI’s Beauty With A Purpose Auction gift this year.
Anegada Beach Club, which offers choice luxury accommodation, gifted a $12,500 luxury vacation package to the Miss World BVI organisation as an auction item for the charity event.
The vacation package includes seven luxurious nights of ‘Glamping’, VIP Transfer via Anegada Express Ferry, Beachfront Palapa Retreat, Arrival Champagne in room, breakfast for two daily, one dinner for two at The Lobster Trap and two spa treatments by Touch of the Caribbean.
“I’m happy to report that Rikkiya’s gift raised the most money for charity At the Beauty With A Purpose Auction gala,” Mr Grange stated.
It was not revealed how much money was raised.
