ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - In more controversial revelations as part of the 'Real Talk' television show with host Karia J. Christopher, local clergyman Apostle Curnal P. Fahie of the Transformational Church International (TCI), says he subjects women in his congregation to dress code checks with the aim of preventing them from distracting the men.

"In our local church when you come to church, you have to do a praise check if you are a woman... you lift up your hands if your dress went above your knees... nobody ain't trying to see that," he said on the February 19, 2020, edition of the show.

Along with guest, Pastor Calvin K. Mills, Mrs Christopher had raised questions about the changing dress codes in the modern American church and asked for their opinion on the issue.

Dressing Modestly

According to Mr Fahie, the Bible talks about being dressed modestly and Christians aught to exhibit qualities that represent their faith, "People should look at you and know that you are a Christian, know that you are a believer."

He continued, "How we dress, how we act, what we say, our behaviour, our mannerisms, not only in American culture, right here in the BVI... sometimes I asked them in the church did you grease up with butter or baby oil and jump into that pants?"

"Men are attracted by what they see, so if your dress is too tight and your... Lee and Rachel are standing out, they can't focus if your dress is too tight."

Apostle Fahie said regardless of how the world bends and the church tries to bend with it, the word of God remains the foundation.

'Women are more concerned with looking sexy' - Pastor Mills

Pastor Calvin K. Mills, adding his voice to the conversation, said modesty has gone out the door in the modern church. "Women are more concerned about looking sexy than looking holy, they are just more concerned about that," the Pastor noted.

He added that in current times people dress more for the physical attraction when it should be to get others to be attracted to the God in them.

"So it has to be addressed and I'm glad he's bold about what he is saying, when you come to church... you come just as you are but the goal is not for you to leave just as you came, you come, you are informed, your eyes are opened, you receive revelation, then you need to make some application," Pastor Mills said.

Apostle Fahie encouraged the public to come as they are but noted that after several years in the church, their dress, talk, behaviour and mannerisms should change to reflect the faith.

Shouldn't the focus be on getting more men in the church? One or two men staring at 100 women's dresses, does not a grievance make!

Trying to keep women oppressed in 2020 like it's still 1820. These "preachers" need to do a better job on the men in their "flock" instead of trying to oppress the women. First, they want to thief all your money, then they going to try and tell you how to dress. Preacher man - get the "flock" outta here.

All this bible b.s. christianity was not the religion of the African it was bought to them by missionaries to enslave and control them. “When the missionaries came to Africa they had the bible and we had the land. The missionaries taught us to pray with our eyes closed, when we opened our eyes they had the land and we had the bible.” Open your eyes people the white mans religion is not yours it is used to enslave, control and subjugate you.

I am a woman and I am in full agreement with the pastors on this. Some women go overboard with their dressing even those who portray 'Holiness.' First, they want to fit in a size 12 dress even when they know their size is a 16. Next they want to have their cleavage showing and as Apostle Fahie alluded to, their 'Lee and Rachel' ready to fall out. Then they want to have on a dress/skirt up their thighs. Some also go with their arms revealing and my "what bush" you almost have to get a lawn mower to cut them down.

We who are professing to be children of God, should be the pace setter for the modern day world. Nothing is wrong in making yourself attractive but do all things in moderation. Instead we adopt to the world's standards with the false hair, nails, boobs, derriere, and so on and so forth. Come on, as women we can do better than that.

Can those who looking spiritual help approach us? If the opportunity presents itself and there's a 'spiritual' war to be fought can you risk going home and coming back? By that time your family member may be dead. My fellow women in Christ, everyday when we leave our house we must endeavour to be ready for war. Not only must we put on the spiritual armour but the physical armour ie (dressing appropriately) as well.

Christ only has our hands, feet, mouthpiece here on earth to carry out his assignments. We must be careful at the end of the journey we do not hear, "Depart from me I know you not."

This is sent in love for all of us Christian women who profess to be blood bought.

Totally agree with Full Agreement. Dress can being both respect or disrespect - the question is which do you want? Setting the record straight- when Apostle Fahie speaks about women exposing their breasts he calls on the names of the matriarchs of Israel - Rachel and Leah the wives of Jacob. He didn't just pull two female names out of a hat.

I am in agreement with what he says. Women can be sexy, but modest at the same time. Too many women are coming to church with their cleavage out of the door for all to see. I can imagine a man like the 'Apostle' having a hard time to bring a message about ladies and sex (most sundays) when all the stuff is right in front his face. Smh!!

However, isn't it strange that all the 'Apostle's' sermons that are rebroadcast on ZBVI every Monday evening are surrounding women? Apostle, you need to get a grip of your self with those messages you have on the radio station. I have never heard you preach about the soon coming of Jesus Christ and the need for people to get their lives in order. Instead it is something of a sexual nature and of women.

You need to check yourself because you certainly have a problem.

And not forgetting the spanish man that speaks after him. Ugghhh.. He irks me. I suggest you take that broadcast off the station and let another pastor who is spiritually inclined and who can preach bible prophecy. The signs of His coming are fast fulfilling and you will be held accountable for these 'sexy' messages that you keep preaching to a lost flock on Sundays. If they would read their bibles they would realise that they are in the wrong church.

Yes, I am in full agreement of your comment regarding the Spanish man who wraps up the radio broadcast on ZBVI on Monday nights. He really sounds ridiculous and is rather annoying. He is a hindrance and ought to be replaced with haste.

The biggest mistake that you can make is think that you can look righteous. You would be amazed that some people who LOOK like Christians ACT like the worst demons. Be careful with the power of perception.
Stop focusing on how the women dress and try dressing Jesus in your messages.

The Jews wanted a king and although everything in the Word unequivocally pointed to Jesus the Jews still rejected Him. Why? He did not dress like a king; He did not act like what they believed a king should act like.

GUESS WHAT- and mark my words, HE GOING TO USE THE SEXY-DRESSED TO DO WHAT THE RIGHTEOUS-LOOKING CAN’T DO !!!

He has a point ...majority of people go to church to show their Church Flow on social media without sharing what the message from the service.

Our purpose is to have a relationship with God and apply God’s Word in our lives not just recite it but apply it in our lives.

We can’t think that clocking in every church service and paying tithes automatically brings a blessing for the rest of the week. That’s not how it works. We’re supposed to build up others. It’s not about self.

Our bodies are God’s temple and we should treat it as such.

Maybe they aren't leaving enough time between exiting the strip club and entering the church. Maybe they're getting confused. Because best believe it is the same men out at the strip clubs with their Hennesy in hand at 2am that are in church the very next morning at 9am paying their 10% to get to heaven. And if that sounds ridiculous to you that is because IT IS!

I agree with the pastor.. when we go into God’s house we are to Reverend Him and one way is by dressing appropriately to attend Hod House and also to act appropriately in church.... I must admit that some ladies dress to provocatively in God’s House.. we go to His house to worship Him in Praise and sharing His word to others..today the church has come like glamour party central every one trying to outshine the other.. yes the word said “come as you are” but if truth be told some of us can dress better.. when we dress, as Christians our “general dress” should be on Honoring God not saying look “frumpy” but in a way of reverence..

You wont see what they have on because block your eyes from seeing it. They are wrong. You can dress in the fitted dress or skirt and still received a blessing in church.......tgese pastor theur eyes fixed on these woman in church.

As a woman who have been in the world and now a Christian, I know what they are saying is true, but the devil has his advocates all over the place to let out their deceitful comments. They will say...its 2020 etc....but do not be deceived. They are just completing their assigned tasks. When I was in the world, I dressed like the world. Now that I am saved, everyone sees God in me, even at work. I am beautiful and sexy no matter how much I cover up and it feels good to not have to show my curves or body print in everything I wear.
Men are 'visual beings' so women, being the adults they should be, should have the discernment of what is appropriate or not for church etc.. And yes some are intentional...they are more concerned about looking sexy than looking Godly. We should not conform to the things of the world. Rather we should change the world and that's that!

God said "Come to me with your heart and soul". So Preacher, get your mind out of the gutter and tell those men to "Come to him with their hearts and souls", and not blame temptation on the women, but on all of your lack of immature men's self control. Maybe this is a test from God, to see where your hearts really are, with God or with Satan. Everyone is naked under their clothes. It is up to the person to allow their minds to wander on unclean thoughts. If a woman had on a dirty burlap bag, a pervert would still picture her naked under that. So talk to your men about faithfulness and leave the women alone. TALK THAT!

I think you misunderstood what he said. Kindly note that the flesh is weak and i dont think women should be tempting men if you coming to worship God come with reverence there is a time an place for everything. if you going to work you not go to work dressing like a whore but we always find a reason not to respect God.

Simply put. Women who go to church in tight dresses, short dressed and showing their cleavage have no self respect. Any self respecting female will know how to adorn themselves before they go in the presence of the Lord God.

First of all this is not news. Secondly, these men of God are just saying what the Word says about dressing modestly. What is the problem. They are not referring to visitors, or first time guest, they are referring to believers who should know better. No one expects for the world to dress like the Church but shouldn't there be a difference between darkness and light?
