ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The Mavericks from the 5th Form of Elmore Stoutt High School beat their 4th Form counterparts, the Spurs, 41-31 in the Final of the mini Tournament put on by the participants of this year's CXC Physical Education and Sports Exam in the Multi Purpose Sports Complex on Friday December 6, 2013.

As part of the Exam requirements, the 12 ESHS Students planned, developed and executed the tournament featuring basketball teams from the 4th and 5th Forms, with Tournament Director, Shoniqua Fahie very pleased with the way the event unfolded.

She had received great support from her hard working team, including Mia Francis, Secretary; Donneisha George, Asst. Sec; Akia Periera, first aid; Tyrel Pringles, equipment manager; Nakisha Bell, scorer; Rafael Savoury, clock man; Deraun Noel, referee; Jared Lewis, referee and Kevin Vanterpool and Llewelyn Dasent who kept the stats.

The hardest job of all was carried out by Khalisha Hodge, who took on the roles of reporter and photographer.

On the Court and in game one, the Spurs beat the Pacers 44-40 with MVP, Jacoy Walwyn scoring 10 points and picking up 5 rebounds. Elvette Dore added 10 points and Nikita Nadal 9 with 8 rebounds.

In the second game the Mavs beat the Heats 46-40 thanks to MVP Neville Smith Junior's 14 points and 10 rebounds. Murtland Gordon scored 12 points and Hakeem Penn 8 with 10 rebounds.

In the 3rd/4th place play off the Heats beat the Pacers 46-27 thanks to MVP Terrique Wattley who scored 17 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Shaquille Benjamin and Deangelo Desmoulin both added 9 points.

In the Final, MVP Hakeem Penn notched 12 points and was named MVP in the 41-31 win over the Spurs. Smith Jnr. added 14 and Gordon 10.

During the Presentation Ceremony, an MVP for each team was named with Smith Jnr. taking the honour for Mavs, Wattley for the Heats, Walwyn for the Spurs and Kalif Christopher for the Pacers.
