FISH BAY, Tortola, VI – True to its word, Marine Power Service Limited has now delivered on its promised donation to Ms Daniela St Marthe, part proceeds from their recently held boat races.

During a brief ceremony held on September 12, 2012 at the Skelton Bay Lot in Fish Bay, Marine Power Service Limited presented an undisclosed sum of money to Daniela, who is a special needs child; the donation was hoped to be used as partial funding for her college education.

Marine Power held its second annual power boat races on August 5, 2012, at the end of which No Discpline ruled the roost. Over eight boats had participated on race day with the main event, the Offshore category, attracting three boats.

Also receiving an incentive during the ceremony was Chaim Todman, who had driven his boat Choke Off into second place in the 250-300hp event. Todman was honoured with a paid for two-night stay at a hotel, an incentive given for his punctuality and consistency at events hosted by Marine Power.

Todman expressed gratitude for the incentive saying “I try my best to be on time and support the events to the fullest so, I appreciate this kind gesture.”

Manager of Marine Power Service, Wycliffe Walters, said of the donations “when we do boat races, it is always to help somebody someplace.”

Speaking with Virgin Islands News Online on behalf or her daughter, Marilyn St Marthe said “I really appreciate that they took my daughter into consideration…” She added that the donation would go directly towards Daniela’s studies as she would be attending the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College in January.

Marilyn, who is a vice-president of the special needs school expressed that she knew about the previous donation but didn’t expect a call from the company telling her about the donation.

Walters was grateful to the persons that provided sponsorship for the event and expressed special thanks to the boat owners, captains and other persons and groups who made significant contributions to the success of the event.

Its good to know that some businesses are still community minded and thoughtful. Commendations to Mr. Walters for being thoughtful towards to special needs person in our community. Best wishes to Miss Stmarthe as she attends college. Behind her is one of the greatest moms and congrats on a job well done. You've raised a wonderful young lady despite of all the obstacles.
