FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI— The victim of a shooting Friday night, August 26, 2015 on Hill Street in Christiansted has been revealed as Sean Javois, [US] Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) Public Information Officer Glen Dratte confirmed via press release on Saturday August 27, 2016.

According to police sources, Mr Javois, cousin of slain police officer Kai Javois — the homicides don’t appear to be related — was engaged in an argument with another man, which escalated and led to Mr Javois’ death. Mr Javois had attempted to flee the area and was shot several times, these sources, who requested anonymity to speak freely about the incident, said.

Mr Dratte said the 911 emergency call center received notification of the incident at about 8:24 P.M. that night. Officers then arrived on the scene and observed the body of the victim on the ground. Mr Javois had sustained several gunshot wounds to his back, chest and neck, according to Mr Dratte, and appeared to have no vital signs of life.

Mr Javois, 32, was transported by a morgue attendant to the Juan F. Luis Hospital where he was pronounced dead by a doctor.

The VIPD’s Investigation Bureau is asking the community to come forth with information that may lead to the apprehension of the suspect or suspects involved in this incident, and the numerous other homicides affecting the territory.

Residents are being asked to call the Criminal Investigation Bureau at (340 )712-6092, the chief’s office at (340)712-6004, Crime Stoppers VI at 1 (800) 222-Tips, or 911.

What is really going on with the young men of the Virgin Islands and the Caribbean on a whole? There soon won't be much of them left at the rate they are going. I wonder if they can't channel that energy into something more productive, like "farming" since other areas of the economy is not vibrant. Its just an idea
