ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- During his trial for a drug-related offence, Dillon Findlay appeared disappointed that the quantity of drugs he was held with was less than what was presented in evidence against him.

An unrepresented Findlay posed the questions to the court during his trial before Magistrate Samuel Jack Husbands last week.

In response, Prosecutor Kael London said members of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), who were on patrol duties, caught the defendant in Baughers Bay on September 22 2018 discarding a package containing 38 grams of cannabis.

London explained that when the drugs were retrieved near a parked vehicle where Findlay was seen dumping it, sometime would have elapsed before it was sent to the analyst for testing.

However, when the cannabis was tendered into evidence during the trial, it was reduced to 27 grams.

The prosecutor said the moisture or the lack thereof made the weight difference.

‘I find you guilty’

Findlay pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled drug but not guilty to possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply.

As a result, he was only on trial for the possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply charge.

Following the trial, Magistrate Husbands said: “I find you guilty.”

Findlay will be sentenced on November 18, 2019.

38 grams to 27 grams. What was he carrying fresh weed? If its fresh why was he found guilty with intent to supply? If it was dry and ready to distribute what happened to the missing 9 grams?

Look its not adding up. The whole system is corrupt.

Some rat in the police force probably ate the cheese.

If ur not sure research. Moisture make bush heavier not lighter...... If he is charge for a specific amount. If that amount cannot be produced. He should be found not guilty... How can a man be guilty if he is charged for having 5lbs of illegal meat but the prosecutor can only produce 3lbs... Then if he plead guilty that's a different thing. Then the crown should be seriously chastised of the allegation..
