Man hit by vehicle on pedestrian crossing

Police on the scene conducting their investigation into the incident which reportedly saw a young man struck on a pedestrian crossing in Road Town this evening November 20, 2012. Photo: VINO
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - A young man had his evening plans shaken up when he was hit by a vehicle while on the pedestrian crossing located in front of UMI Fashion.

The incident reportedly occurred around 7 P.M. today November 20, 2012.

The visibly shaken man who was struck did not appear to have suffered any serious injury.

He told Virgin Islands News Online that he was almost halfway across the road heading in the direction of UMI Fashion when he was hit by a vehicle heading in a southerly direction.

Police were on the scene conducting investigations with the assistance of both parties involved.

      but the issue is, drivers should stop at cross walk and look before they move off

    Quite a lot of lighting by that crosswalk from the look of the photo. Seems to me drivers need to stick within the speed limit and pay attention to the road, rather than trying to multitask while driving
