Man gunned down in St Thomas, USVI

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St Thomas, USVI— A man was found dead in Honduras, Frenchtown on the United States Virgin Islands main island of St Thomas on Monday night, February 29, 2016 at 9:51pm, after being shot multiple times about the body, VIPD Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman announced this afternoon, February 1, 2016.

According to Ms Freeman, citing a preliminary police report, upon police arrival to the scene, contact was made with an unresponsive Hispanic male, who was lying motionless on the ground located just east of Addelita Cancryn Junior High School. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds about the body.

The victim was later identified as 24-year-old Jeffrey Velasquez of Honduras, St Thomas, USVI.

Police are asking anyone with information concerning this homicide to phone the Major Crimes Unit at 340-714-923 extension 5617, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-714-9807 extension 5556, the Office of the Chief of Police at 340-774-2211 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI at 800-222-8477.

        Stop being an alarmist or a drama queen like blacktigershark. There is no comprasin in terms of crime between the BVI and the USVI.

        Big difference B smh Tirtola is one of the safest islands be proud if that. When the last time somebody got gunned down in Tola? A year? Maybe 2? Please I don't understand why ayo believe gun violence even exist in Tola. Even when you trying executive man ayo either hit the wrong person if barely could finish the job. C'mon son.

    We still have to give our Tola police some credit for keeping the crime at the level it is. It's not as bad as our neighbors.
