Man found dead in vehicle in Long Look

LONG LOOK, Tortola, VI- Information reaching Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) is that a man was discovered dead in his vehicle at Long Look, on the main island of Tortola, last evening, February 20, 2020.

The man has been identified as BVI Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) employee and basketball coach, Mr Andrewcito Smith, known to many as just ‘Cito’.

According to reports, the man had communicated with a relative sometime during the evening that he was feeling unwell.

After subsequent calls to the man’s phone went unanswered, relatives reportedly checked on Mr Smith and found him unresponsive in his vehicle.

Police are reportedly treating the matter as a sudden death.

Confirmation of the discovery by the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) was given by Police Information Officer, Ms Akia L. Thomas.

"I can confirm a report of an unresponsive male in his vehicle at his residence in Long Look last night at approximately 10:25 pm. Police responded and Mr Andrew Smith was later pronounced dead at the scene," Ms Smith told Virgin Islands News Online.

The Management and Staff of Virgin Islands News Online extend condolences to the family and friends of the late Mr Andrewcito Smith.
