FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI— A man was found dead in the trunk of his car on Sunday September 4, 2016 on St Croix, US Virgin Islands (USVI), two police sources have confirmed to The Consortium.

V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte later corroborated the incident, but said he did not know where in the vehicle the victim was found.

According to Mr. Dratte, at about 8:14 a.m. today, the 911 emergency call center received a call regarding a suspicious parked car in Estate Hogensberg (the same road leading to the Crusaders Nightclub, which is found after taking the first right passed the Williams Delight stoplights heading west).

Officers arrived on the scene and observed an unresponsive black male in the vehicle. Identified as 36-year-old Romig Francis, the victim was pronounced dead on the scene and was transported to the morgue by the morgue attendants, according to Mr. Dratte.

This case is currently under investigation by the Criminal Investigations Bureau (C.I.B). Police are asking anyone with information on this incident to call C.I.B. at 340 712 -6092, the chief’s office at 340 712 6004, Crime Stoppers VI 1 800 222 Tips, or 911.
