ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Magistrate Ayanna O. Baptiste-DaBreo will decide on the fate of a man who was caught red-handed on closed-circuit television (CCTV) stealing a wheelbarrow from a construction company in Baughers Bay on September 28, 2018.

Marshall Horne, who entered a guilty plea to criminal trespass and theft will be sentenced on March 31, 2020, at the Magistrate’s Court in John’s Hole.

Horne, according to Prosecutor Melissa K. Brewley, Virtual Complainant (VC) who was also the proprietor of the company, visited his storage facility on October 17 2018.

There, he observed that his wheelbarrow was missing and based on certain observations the reviewed the footage from the CCTV.

Brewley told the court that the VC was able to see the defendant gain access to his property by jumping over the perimeter fence and afterwards, hauled the stolen wheelbarrow over the same fence.

The VC, according to the prosecutor, was able to identify the defendant on the camera footage by his walk, hair and other body features.

The incident occurred about 6.48 am on the day in question and was subsequently reported to the police on October 18, 2018.

On the same day of the report, members of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force visited Horne’s residence and put the allegations to him, but he made no reply.

In addition, a wheelbarrow fitting the description of the stolen item was spotted on the defendant’s premises, which was later confiscated by police.

The defendant was arrested and brought to the Road Town Police Station, where the charges were laid against him.

It is the same thing when you take pens or other office supplies from your job...

@All the same... I got you BOBO, only difference is we are talking about a wheelbarrow, not pens and office supplies.

Now is not the time to be trying to sit in a jail cell up on the hill. People is trying to avoid anywhere where a large group of people is in contact with each other. Think about that.

Why do people steal? Even your neighbors watch you work hard every day, while they sit on their lazy behinds, and feel they can just take your items while you are away. I installed cameras in my yard and no begging or pleading will stop me from sending them to jail. I cannot stand a thief!
