ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - 44 year old Public Works Department employee Anderson Richards appeared before Magistrate Tamia N. Richards on May 13, 2016 charged with being armed with an offensive weapon to wit a cricket bat and assault causing actual bodily harm.

He pleaded not guilty to both charges. It is alleged that on March 28, 2015 Rose Campbell went to the apartment of Anderson Richards, her boyfriend at the time, and they had a fight.

The court heard that when Campbell arrived at the apartment she saw Richards throwing her clothes outside.

The court heard that she used her foot to prevent Richards from closing the door on her. Upon entering the apartment she tripped and fell and Richards allegedly hit her in the face. He then allegedly armed himself with a cricket bat and hit her several times about the body.

The court heard that Campbell grabbed the defendant’s pants waist and then he alleged removed the pants and dealt her several blows with the said pair of pants. She then bit his arm and grabbed a trophy and which she used to hit him.

A Rasta man who is also a tenant in the building came into the apartment and sought to part the fighting couple. Campbell reportedly used the Rasta man’s phone to call the police.

The court heard that charges were proffered for both Richards and Campbell. However only Richards appeared in court.

Bail was set at $30,000 signed bail and the parties are to return to court on July 22, 2016 for reporting.

    This "foot" thing looks like it has become the first line of defence in our Virgin Islands. Looks like an increasing pandemic, in fact. Can wait for “LOL” to comment on this one.

    He dealt her several blows with her pants, her pants? Just picture that. LMAO. But on a serious note, he had no business putting his hands on the woman. This is just me, a man put his hands on me, he will be wearing steal plates in the hand that he strike me with. I know I can't beat a man but I am going to give him something to remember the next time he raise his hands to hit a woman.

        Tolians dont have cricket bats. If it was a baseball bat, then I would believe it was a Tolian man

          @BVI Please don't swear for people. Are you the whole native population of Tortola. You sound ignorant. It's not impossible for a Tolian to have a cricket bat. Hopefully you're not a lawyer.
          @myboy What do you mean island man? Tortola is an island. Bvislanders need to stop segregating themselves. Black people unite. Ignorance needs to stop. This is why whites and other races will have the upper hand. We can't come together.
          @bvi @myboy Tolians do a lot of wrong.

            Whites will have the upper hand because they are not dragging down the BVI with uncivilized parasitic and brutal behaviour like the expats from the Caribbean island. No we cannot come together with a group who cannot live and act civil in their everyday living. It goes against who we are and who we were when these misfits arrived .
            Toland do a lot of wrong in St Vincent? In Jamaica? In Dr? ...how many Tolians are burdening these countries prisons,courts and legal system?

              @Oh Please
              How many Tolians are up at Balsam Ghut? How many Tolians got busted this year along with drugs in these waters? How many Tolians got caught smuggling illegal aliens to the BVI & USVI? How many Tolians are molesting children and sexually assaulting adults in Tortola? How many Tolians are robbing and killing people right here in Tortola? According to you,they're not burdening St. Vincent, Jamaica or DR. They are actually taking up space in the prison system and fatigueing the courts and legal systems of Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, St. Thomas, USA, UK. Don't throw stones if you live in a glass house? Tolians look down on other people. If you didn't have the US Dollar, what else do you have ? No resources for export. Thanks to the US act forcing banks to disclose financial information for anyone with a US SS#, there goes your offshore banking to entice people trying to hide money. In a minute even the queen is going to look on the BVI and say IDFWU. I say this proudly as a belonger, I love the Virgin Islands but some of y'all too damn ignorant. Knowledge is power. @Oh Please, I'ma need you to have many seats. Drops Mic. Walks off Stage

          @wize up, yeah it is the power of the p:;;$ but, that is a man's downfall. Sorry for saying this but that is what a woman have and will always have over a man because the man is to dumb to see it. Like they say, you find a donkey and you ride him. A strong man will never let a p.$$& bring him down.
