CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St Thomas, USVI— A man living on St Thomas, US Virgin Islands was jailed for stabbing a man that he was in a relationship with, [US] Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman announced Friday October 7, 2016.

According to Ms Freeman, citing a police report, on October 6, 2016 Christopher Gagnon, 44, was arrested and charged with third-degree assault, domestic violence, in connection with the stabbing incident that occurred on September 29, 2016.

Ms Freeman said the victim stated that he was at his residence when Mr Gagnon, whom he was involved with, started arguing with him. During the argument, Mr Gagnon went into the kitchen and came back with a knife in his hand. The victim indicated that Mr Gagnon placed the knife up against his face and told him that he was going to do what he said. The victim further explained that he got up and walked to the door and told Mr Gagnon to get out and don’t come back. Mr Gagnon then lifted his hand and stuck the knife in the victim’s stomach, which led to an injury and surgery.

No bail was set for Mr Gagnon in accordance with the territory’s domestic violence laws. He was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise-of-rights hearing.
